We've known (and gone to, I hope!) about museums for toys, historical artifacts, artwork collections, and natural history, but tell me, have you ever heard about a museum for RICE? Yes, rice. You know, that one thing we Filipinos can't live too long without?
IRRI Riceworld houses the most extensive collection of technical literature on rice (and everything rice-related) in the whole wide world. It also boasts of its collection of rice grown from different countries and various artifacts used in rice production. I must say, the science nut in me died of too much kilig that day. I immensely enjoyed their interactive exhibits about population growth data. If you love numbers, statistical data, and daydreaming about mankind relocating to an awesome space colony thanks to overpopulation, then you'll love this museum too.
It's funny, I actually discovered Riceworld because it's just right across the IRRI cafeteria that used to serve unlimited rice. Ah, I wish I could teleport to LB right now. read more
