Noticed this place earlier in the week when we came to pick up my daughter's uniform for school at Mascot Universe that's right next door. Walked in and seated immediately. The waitress greeted us after a little while to give us time to review the menu. I got the Kung Pao chicken dinner combo which comes with pork fried rice and choice of ginger salad or egg roll. I opted for the salad and my spice level as mild. Hubs got the general Tso chicken with wonton soup and white rice. Food came out hot and fast! The general Tso chicken was crispy and not soggy like most places. The taste was good. Kung Pao chicken I liked more than the general Tso although even my mild was spicy. Ingredients were fresh and tasty dishes. It was a bit humid in here. Unsure if the A/C was out but they had a standing unit running. Aside from the sushi, my favorite is the Chow Mei Fun! That's Emmy favorite to get "to-go". Their bench seating does sag a little when you sit, but you quickly forget once the food arrives! And it typically arrives quickly! The lighting is perfect, as is the music that is a little classical background, which is perfect. My favorite roll is the Volcano! Everything I tasted was delicious and I appreciated that there were many vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. The veggie sushi rolls were way more creative than other restaurants I've been to. Rather than just a few plain veggies between rice and seaweed this sushi was an explosion of different flavors and fresh, crunchy veggies with a delicious dipping sauce. All the other dishes I tried were piping hot and the veggies were cooked with just the right amount of tender-crisp. The tofu was cooked perfectly and all the sauces were so delicious! Terrible! Do not go here please. I went for a night out with another mom to have some cooked sushi because I am currently pregnant and she only likes cooked rolls. Service was subpar and the appetizers were small. Soup smelt burnt yet was cold. But we were enjoying ourselves. We ordered three rolls and in the middle of eating there was a bug behind my friend on the booth. In the time I was there two customers walked in. I can tell they had been here a number of times bc of the nice way the owner greeted them in such a personable manner. Really recognizing your customers is a great touch that I do love. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted. They have an extensive menu of sushi, sashimi rolls, bento boxes, chinese food entrees, and lunch specials. I chose the shrimp and broccoli with fried rice, and the double dragon roll. I have downloaded pictures of the above. All that I had including that, the thai ice tea, won ton soup were all good. The service was good as well. The waiter assisted with different suggestions, and made sure to check on me, but never overwhelm me. I will be excited to try this place again. Another thing that is good too is that the combo plates included a choice of fried rice or white rice. Usually they only give you an option of white rice. My husband will be happy about that. It's been years since I lived on this side of town and visited Rice N Roll frequently. Man, how I missed it! Ran in for dinner with a friend and helped ourselves to some Happy Hour Beer - $2.50 imports and $1.50 domestics. Had myself a Kirin Light (okay, two) and started the evening off right! I forgot how much I liked their sushi! We had a Double Dragon roll, which was just about one of the best rolls I've ever had, and that was a total surprise! I don't normally go for rolls with chicken in them, but my friend suggested this. Chicken and shrimp inside, a bunch of other things, sweet and sour sauce and topped in mango. Now, I don't even like mango. But it was sliced so perfectly thin that you got the sweetness from it, but not big enough a bite to register that there was a chunk of fruit in your mouth. It melted away perfectly in each bite. SO good. We also had the Love Spell (salmon, tuna, cream cheese, avo, creamy crab, octopus, crunch, eel sauce, spicy may and special soy). Also really good. It was a lot in each bite, and it had so many different textures working in there ... creamy, crunchy, a little chewy. I really enjoyed it, although this was a very filling roll. Also, be prepared for sticker shock. The table tent didn't say how much this roll was. Check came out and it was $16.95. Yowzas! We also had a California roll and a Mexican roll. Wanted an alternative to my usual places to get Chinese style dishes and saw this in the area. It has plenty of choices and the sushi looks promising but I didn't order that this time. I had the moo shu pork and pork fried rice. Unfortunately the flavor was lacking and some of the food tasted "off" like old product was used. Also their prices are higher than other Chinese food style restaurants but portions aren't much bigger. Not a fan. read more
