There are some food havens in North Carolina; the Triangle and Asheville have many gems but you can good things elsewhere, and I've been around. This was my first stop in Goldsboro however, and it appears not to be one of those havens. This place was bare-bones, with one or two tables which were mostly used for people waiting for takeout. The reason I stopped was for the vegetarian selection; their tofu dish had some dubious vegetable selections but it was a full dish with a passable spicy and sweet sauce, and fried tofu is by its nature delicious. The person taking orders was quite orderly, like extremely so. I might have attained higher culinary standards had I kept driving to a bigger city, but I can give this place credit for providing a basic dish that would be hard to find in the surrounding countryside. read more

Sadly the food was mostly incorrect headed on what we ordered and wasn't all that tasty either. It is probably the most tasteless lo mein I have ever had. Food was very filling and a large quantity. Service is extra nice and considerate. It is a very busy which that shows customers how known and well liked it is. We have always loved the food here. Never a problem. Tonite, well maybe because it was a late order about 30 mins before closing on 1=19 we ordered crab rangoon, chicken wings and egg rolls, got home to enjoy like we always do and it was very very very over cooked, had burn marks on the wings and the eggrolls and the rangoon was way over cooked. We are chalking this up to a bad nite and just before closing. we will try again but not for a while read more

As far as takeout Chinese restaurants go, I have to say: THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE HAD ALONG THE EASTERN SEABOARD!! What a hidden gem! I'm a Los Angeles native and Asian myself. I'm a bit of a flavor snob and this place checks all the boxes to suit my picky palette. Not only are the prices very fair and budget-friendly, the portions are made for sharing. Great for families to grab-n-go. It's a small family owned spot next to a Subway Sandwich shop in a nondescript corner strip mall. In town visiting family, pleasantly surprised to stumble into this place. I will definitely be back, every time I visit! We had pork chow fun that was awesome. Veggie lo mein. Shrimp broccoli. Mongolian beef. All we're on point! But my favorite was the Orange chicken! That was exceptional. Not overly breaded, just the right amount of "tangy-ness" with savory. It even had little slivers of orange zest (peel) in the sauce. All Goldsboro locals need to check this place out. Even my family who have lived here 40+ yrs had never tried it before tonight. The best Chinese style food in Goldsboro, for the price. The Laughing Owl probably has it best in taste but is roughly double the price. If you're looking for affordable takeout, then this place can't really be beat. If you hate chewy low quality beef, then you will love the fact that this place uses higher end beef. Their Thai Food leaves a little to be desired, compared to Thai Garden, but if one person is ordering Thai VS everyone else going with Chinese, the Thai is passable. The owners are always super friendly and appreciative of your business. There have been times when we have ordered delivery and they threw in an extra dish of something different just so we could try it. All in all a great place for food and service. read more

Without a doubt, this is the best Chinese takeout in Goldsboro! This is the same family who previously owned China House near the SJAFB main gate. They moved away for a while, but now are back running this small restaurant and takeout business. If you ever visited the China House before they sold it, I don't have to tell you how good their food is. And they're cooking up pretty much the same thing now. Call orders in early! Well, I'm going to disagree with fabulous reviews. My wife, on the way home from work, stopped and got an order of pork fried rice and two egg rolls. This was at approximately 6:30 pm. This rice must have been made sometime ago, possibly this morning to be served at lunch. To be blunt, it was the absolute worst we have ever had. The chunks of meat, not quite sure what kind it was, looked old and dry. Needless to say neither one of us ate it. I believe the egg rolls were hanging around just as long. This food was bland, old and tasteless. A big waste of money. Never again. And the best Chinese in town is China King. Been going there for over 20 years. If I could have given no stars, I would have. read more

I have been several times now and the food is always very good. The service is fast and friendly. If you have to wait more than just a couple of minutes don't be surprised if they give you a couple of crab Rangoon's or a spring roll while you wait. Every time I have been the staff has been very kind. Thy have a very small dining room that will seat maybe 12 and that would be packed. I have always gotten mine to go. Still it is worth it. There is another Chinese restaurant that I pass to get to Rice 'N Noodle, and I will continue to do so. read more

After seeing the other raving reviews, I just had to give this place a shot. I got the General Tsos lunch special with fried rice, hot & sour soup, and eggrool. I devoured the soup, which was the best I had ever eaten and started on the rice which was also amazing. This early into my meal, I wanted so bad to give it 5 stars. Then I started on the chicken... The sauce was flavorful and very spicy, just how I like it. The meat, however had hardly any batter on it and was essentially plain, very chewy and overcooked chunks of chicken breast. It (and the egroll) also tasted very strongly of oil that was way past its prime and had that bitter burnt grease taste. I was sorely disappointed and could only finish a little over a third of my chicken. If I could've at least finished it, I would have given 4 stars, but I just can't give that rating for something I couldn't even manage to finish. That said, I won't be getting that dish from here again. However, the soup and rice were so good that I will probably come again just for them.
