If you want classic food this is a good place. Not fancy. Drinks were watered down. Decent food but nothing fantastic. Good service

Went for dinner with friends, the service as well as the food was horrible. The only good thing about this restaurant is the outdoor patio.

Dolce V - Shrimp Scampi (1/2 eaten before pic taken)

The club music was inconsistent with that type of restaurant and it was loud. We were shocked that we were served pop in a can rather than in a glass. Even more shocking was the rolled paper used to cover the linens that had us even more confused. Definitely not a sophisticated look. If you're going to have linens, then show them off or don't have them at all. The waitress rushed us the entire time which made us feel very uncomfortable and agitated us. We actually wanted dessert but decided to leave to give her what she wanted. The food was mediocre. The bruschetta crumbled and was very messy. We appreciated the display with the shrimp over it but it's not practical as a finger appetizer. Overall, we are happy to have tried it but will not be returning.

For longtime fans, like me, that connection alone sets expectations high! Thankfully, many of the classics that I remember have made the move, including favorites like the Linguine Pescatore. Overall, the good far outweighed the bad during our visit, but since Dolce V had only been open about two months at the time of this review, there were a few little hiccups that are worth mentioning. The Negatives Let's start with the challenges. The restaurant itself is very small, which means limited seating. When every table is full, as it was during our visit, the space becomes quite loud, making conversation difficult. This is definitely not the spot for an intimate or quiet dinner. Pricing was another slight negative. Bread is not included and comes with a $6 upcharge, the starter salad is also a $6 uncharge ($4 if you order an entrée). On top of that, there is a 3% credit card fee, which we didn't notice until the bill came. So, by the end of the meal, it felt like we were being nickel and dimed, and that feeling detracted a bit from the overall experience. Unfortunately, the bread itself didn't justify the $6 cost, it wasn't warm, and the butter was underwhelming (honestly, our butter tub at home is better). While the salads were very good, paying extra for what many restaurants include as standard can be frustrating. The Positives Now for the highlights, and there were many! Portion sizes are generous, to say the least. Both my husband and I took home leftovers, which is always a win. The clear standout of the night was the appetizer Arancini, easily one of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked rice, cheese and meat on the inside. Full of flavor, it's a must-order! For entrées, my husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and I chose the Shrimp Scampi. Both dishes were very good, and you could absolutely tell they were made fresh, not from frozen chicken or shrimp. That attention to quality matters, and it showed. While the salads came with an upcharge, they were large for a side salad and had fancy lettuce and toppings, and I especially loved the house-made creamy Italian dressing. That dressing alone might convince me to order the salad again, even with the extra cost! A small but appreciated touch was that the beer was ice-cold and served in a frosty glass, which always elevates the experience. Final Thoughts All in, our date night with beers, bread, appetizer, salads, and entrées - came in at just over $100. It's definitely on the pricey side, but not unreasonable given the portion sizes and fresh food quality. You could easily skip the add-ons and up charges to make the meal more affordable and still have a very good meal experience! This is a must try in my opinion, just go in knowing what to expect in advance! We will definitely be back very soon!

We had a reservation and waited about 15 min to be seated which is very normal at a this kind of restaurants for a large group. The drinks came in first, I got a Cabernet and there were some good mojitos as well. We ordered the bread service and it was amazing. The whipped butter with olive oil makes the bread so soft and delicious. For food I ordered the shot ribs with mashed potatoes and it was really really good. It is an earthy dish with mashed potatoes and fried zucchini noodles. It is a very good dish but I felt like I was missing a fresher side, maybe asparagus or broccolini. Overall really good food and service. Some of my friends ordered the pizza which was really well balanced and cooked nicely, the pastas were also delicious. I will always recommend ottava via to anyone asking for a good place to eat in corktown

The arancini are a great way to start - crispy on the outside with a warm, flavorful center. I also really liked the garlic and goat cheese - rich, creamy, garlicky. For pasta, I've tried both the penne alla arrabbiata and the cacio e pepe. The arrabbiata has a nice kick while the cacio e pepe is simple and comforting. Between the two, it really just depends on what you are in the mood for. The atmosphere is another reason I like coming here. Ottava Via has a cozy, lively feel that works just as well for dinner with friends as it does for a date night. Definitely a place I'd keep in the rotation when I'm craving Italian in Detroit!

Soprano-like vibe on the inside, dark lighting, big booths and tables, bad art, Sinatra music, Italian hairdos, the whole badda-boom badda-bing thing. Super clean bathrooms too. OMG the food! Delicious bread and butter, olive oil on the table, fresh salads (best blue cheese dressing ever), delicious Caprese salad full of balsamic-basil flavors, awesome mussels with garlic and oil sauce (sopped up with fresh bread), fresh made egg-cream sauce on the decadent spaghetti carbonara. Great hot coffee and a homemade cannoli for desert. Well made bar drinks too. I left completely satisfied. Perfect pit-stop for hungry travelers waiting for rush hour traffic to clear. My first choice for post-flight dining. Salute!

We had 2 couples and they customized the menu for us based on our likes and dislikes. We got 5 courses starting with appetizers, followed by pasta (which I forgot to get photos of), then sides, entrees and dessert. Plus a little aperitif to start the meal off. Zero complaints about any of the dishes. My favorite dish was probably the artichokes and the steak. So delicious! The atmosphere at the restaurant was very fun and modern. And our server was very knowledgeable and helpful when we had questions about the dishes. If you want an even more elevated experience, they have a sommelier that will come to your table and assist with picking wine to pair with your meal.

The meal continually went downhill from the first appetizers to the end. Started to go downhill when we had to pastas as a third course. They both tasted the same and were extremely salty. This was followed up by the smallest saddest toughest steak that I've ever seen in my life. Was extremely disappointed at this point in the menu. The dessert tasted worse than disappointment. We saw everyone by us getting pistachio ice cream other dessert that looked great. We got peach tomato ice cream, with a dry dusty cake that tasted like powder. Great service from the waitress though. Very knowledgeable and attentive so we still gave her a good tip. I think that the chef's tasting menu is just an angle to overcharge you for mediocre homemade Italian food. It's under the guys of they ask you questions to cater to you and the taste of the people at your table. The questions are so general and ambiguous. It doesn't really hone in on what your actual taste are. Haven't left a restaurant feeling like I've been robbed and wasted my money in a while. The main course made White Castle looks like a Michelin 2 Starr restaurant. Won't go back and would not recommend. To cap off the evening we took that weird raw steak thing that they gave us is our main course home in a doggy bag for our dogs. Our dogs usually go nuts about any meat whether it's lunchmeat, grilled ribs, or even the fat trimmed from the edge of the steak. This meat was so weird and bad that two of our dogs took it from her hand, went around the corner and poked at it and sniffed at it before trying to eat it. One of the two dogs spit it out and the other one left it. I've had steaks and beef at hundreds of restaurants over the years and can always identify what it is by how the piece of meat looks and how it is prepared. This was like mystery meat, very, very, very disappointed and feel robbed.
