All the donuts are all handmade and it was hard to choose just two to try. My friend got a matcha one while I went with Oreo. Both were absolutely fresh and delicious. They both had a white cream that oozed out after you take a bite. Very good! We also got coffee there too which was pretty decent.

Located on Carrer del Torrent de l'Olla, essentially an ally with clotheslines hanging overhead and access limited to those traveling by foot or bike, it was just prior to 11h00 that a party of two entered the small space where an English-fluent couple was chatting and enjoying Coffee, the same server present as during the first visit immediately complimenting one guest's T-Shirt featuring a Pig and thus kicking off a lengthy five-person conversation about the movie Okja on Netflix. Small and homey in its design, a single glass case of Donuts on the counter in front of an Espresso Machine with a small plastic Pig and map of Greece the only real decorations aside from colorful seating for four, it was after weighing both the choices and remaining appetite that the decision was made to invest in three Doughnuts plus a Chocolate Frappe, the drink cool and creamy but unfortunately overwhelmed by unsweetned Whipped Cream which made the last several sips mostly undrinkable. Moving on to the Donuts, Rings and Holes of several traditional flavors in addition to a few novelties offered next to Bagels, it was with two filled choices and one topped in sweetened Tahini and crushed Pistachios that the order was comprised, the bases all identical with an egginess reminiscent of Brioche while the toppings and fillings were all quite good, the Sugar and Raspberry Jam far lighter and more natural than many found Stateside while the Dulce De Leche pocket featured thick Caramel beneath Vanilla Glaze and Cinnamon Streusel.

I also ordered the homemade lemonade which was incredible! The staff are friendly and helpful (English speaking if needed) and the atmosphere is cute and spacious! I also really enjoyed the side bar which carried Olive oil, salt & pepper, utensils, & Parmesan - this way you can add as much as you'd like. I definitely recommend this place as I went twice in one week...it's that good!

Order at a counter, and they bring you food to your table. What we ordered: 1. Pinsa Romana with Stracciatella - Translation, a very margherita-esque pizza, but think very fresh and soft mozzarella. The dough is heavier and has a slightly sour taste a la sourdough. First thing we finished and would order again. 2. Aglio y olio + spinach + shrimp. Delicious. Our second favorite and would order again. 3. Cacio y pepe with broccoli added. For my American tastes, this was too heavily white pepper and not black pepper. It was a lot for me to scarf down in one dish and no one else liked it enough to eat this family-style. Would have just doubled up on aglio & olio if I were to visit again, which I would. Overall, a very nice place to sit down and have a casual meal. Would come here again.

There were many more treats, breads, cookies, etc that I can't vouche for, but if it's anything like the coffee and breakfast breads, you won't be disipointed. We ended up at Pastisseria Forn de Sant Joan, which is a bakery (slash) delicatessen, pastisseria, pasteleria, & bombonería (sweetshop) in the Vila de Gràcia neighborhood, not too far from our original destination. The moment you walk in, it becomes apparent that the place doesn't have the lively touristic-ness of the businesses on La Rambla. No human statues with body paint here, just locals. The lady by the candies will speak to you in Catalan, 1 eyebrow raised, possibly annoyed because you don't speak the language. There's an area with a countertop table & bar stools where you could place your order for a hot drink like a cafe or a hot cocoa. The nice, elderly lady standing behind it was whistling & doing a kind of almost dance as she wiped the countertop clean. She had the same panache for life as the Conesa Entrepans cook, but she was maybe happier. As soon as I ordered a hot cocoa, she grabbed the huge, clear plastic jar of hot cocoa mix from the glass display case in front of me. My hot chocolate was nice, thick, chocolatey, as sweet as I hoped it would be, & dirt cheap. I also bought 2 chocolates for eating the next day, & they were delish, chocolatey & cheap. Easily the best chocolates I had in Barcelona. My accidental visit to Pastisseria Forn de Sant Joan is among my most memorable. It was by accident that I found it, I'm all for supporting small local businesses, they didn't charge tourist prices there, & I loved that they gave me my order without the usual side of BS reserved for tourists. I find that my food usually tastes better this way.

The carrot cake I got was SOOO good the mascarpone was incredibly rich and the cake itself had amazing texture and flavor. The guy serving was very very friendly. Only thing is that the cakes seem to be a little overpriced for the size. I paid 5,80 euro, and I see that the prices have stayed the same for a while but based on previous reviews the serving size has decreased quite a bit. However the cake was so good I would honestly still say it was worth it. Everything is vegan and I also saw some labelled gluten free options. update: I walked past 2 days later around the same time in the evening and they had a much wider selection, including croissants this time. I also saw some new cookies and panellets which I do not believe were there the first time. In addition the cake cups looked to be filled more than mine was. I guess I got unlucky the first night I came, it was a Sunday night for reference.
