Waiting room of the ladies restroom

We went to Elmwood Theater to see Dune. We needed proof of vaccination (that was important to us), and a mask to enter. I like that Elmwood is a vintage theater. It has been around for over 100 years. It has style. When you go, make sure to check out the bathrooms. We also found the seats quite comfortable, and the staff is friendly. Also, I liked how clean and well maintained the grounds are. Something that could use improvement is the sound insulation. In the quiet parts of our movie, we could hear explosive sounds from the other theater. I recommend going to Elmwood Theater!

Super small theater

I try to root for the independent art house film places, but this one was so small it was beyond uncomfortable and was literally painful. The seats are so close in front that at 6' tall I could not move my legs at all for the duration of the previews and film. It was painful. The theater was so small that when someone got up to use the bathroom their head would block the projector and thus the film on the screen. Majority of the people showed up after the film had begun and so no one who showed up on time could actually watch the film as everyone was standing up to let them pass. People who show up late just shouldn't be allowed in (Alamo Drafthouse theaters got this part right). It was also probably 85 degrees in this theater, and you could hear the audio from the film next door when there were audio lulls in our film.

Berkeley's only remaining commercial movie theater. Somewhat dated with very small screens, but fun to go to.

The whole place felt small and honestly not worth making a trip for. What really made it worse was the staff behavior. One worker or volunteer took a photo of us and then awkwardly hid behind a wall, which was unsettling. Another staff member kept staring at us the entire time, then eventually approached to say we couldn't have a water bottle inside and had to check it at the front desk. That would have been fine if the front desk had mentioned it in the first place. The inconsistency just added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall, not worth the visit at all. If you are deciding between museums, Oakland Museum of California is much better and a far more enjoyable experience.

It seemed rather comical to me that we were watching Wu-Tang crew in such an iconic classic turn of the century theater, but the set up was great!! Great sound system, beautiful Structure, and agree wall of famous people that have performed here! I didn't eat any food, but there were tables that people were sitting at and standing towards the back. We were on the lower floor without any tables around. They had open bars on the side, not open, but available to the customers. And drinks were well poured. The only odd thing I would say was the bathrooms were rather thrashed. It reminded me of an outdated bathroom I saw in a hole in the wall restaurant that had delicious food while in Taiwan. At least they had plumbing, but they were literally holes in the ground, holes in the wall and then random Boards, put up to cover up the holes within the woman's bathroom. About a block away there is a parking garage, other than that their street parking. We were lucky and found some street parking about two blocks away, so it wasn't too hard to walk. I wouldn't mind going back to seeing another show here again.

We met with Saul at a coffee shop prior to our wedding and explained what we were looking for, the song we wanted to use and answered any questions he had for the date, location etc. He sent us our contract letter the same day and was eager to do be apart of this special day for us. He was so patient from starting at the brides home and capturing all of the preparation behind the scenes, to the church, and then to the reception. He tag teamed with our photographer and adapted to any last minute changes and requests. We got our video back in a timely manner and it brought tears to both my husband and I. He even did sneak peaks/teasers on Instagram which only brought us more excitement and love for his talent and work. We now watch it every anniversary as a tradition and will continue to carry this with our family every year. He exceeded our expectations beyond words and we are very proud and happy with his work. Nicole was super responsive during planning. Nicole and Maria were amazing on the day of, checking in, helping with last-minute changes, and even making sure my husband and I got a plate of hors d'oeuvres. The whole team was awesome. The venue and logistics: It's an older building, so heat isn't always adjustable, but you can turn it to the lowest setting. Towels were soft, water was hot, and the honeymoon suite was quiet. There's always a coffee and tea bar near the lobby and fresh water with fruit in it. Pool sign-up is required. One person found it a bit cold, but others liked it. Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, and makeup removers were provided. Location and vibe: Stunning historic building in the heart of Berkeley. Guests could walk around the city easily. Amazing Golden Gate Bridge views. Explore the courtyards and hidden spaces--you'll find new spots everywhere! Overall, a gorgeous, unique, and super fun place to get married. She was the first American woman ever accepted into the top Paris architecture school back in the day and her fusion of Gothic and Moorish design represents the best of early California architecture. My friend wanted to stay here and while the price is high it's worth it to stay in a piece of history. The rooms are historical so don't expect anything too modern, the check in area and atrium behind it have some gorgeous architectural details and the sounds of running water. The parking lot next to the hotel costs 40 a night, if you don't mind walking you can park at a structure a couple blocks away for 20. Part of the hotel cost includes a free beer or wine at the Morgan bar on the second floor. If you've ever seen the pool at Hearst Castle you'll get something in the same vein but smaller in scale here. The big difference is you can swim in this pool if you are a guest!

Zellerbach Hall is located within the campus of UC Berkeley. It is a spacious, beautiful building with ample seating to provide various viewpoints. For my daughter's first performance, I purchased the front row directly in front of the stage to ensure she had zero interference with her view. Her view... my five year old slept in my arms during majority of the performance only seeing the first and final dance performance. If you have never attended an Alvin Alley performance, you are truly missing beauty and precision and story telling and movement and so many other wondrous things at its finest. This was my third time attending and I leave so fulfilled by the emotion evoked from the performances, dancers and storytelling. Parking can be a hassle as it's primarily street parking and possible garage parking if you arrive early. We were fortunate to find street parking across from the old church. Public transportation via BART or bus are options. From BART, expect to walk 20-30 minutes (depending on your speed). My daughter and I made a day of it, stopping for a slice of pizza then making our way to frozen yogurt prior to the show.
