We were so surprised, not because we expected it to be bad, but just because it was better than expected and we were practically the only ones there (to be fair, we were there in the middle of the week rather than a busy weekend). So definitely a hidden gem. There's a much more popular hotel in town, but I'm so glad we chose this one instead. It's not technically a hotel I guess, but it works like one... and has more interesting things than a typical hotel. It really is set up to be like a retreat and conference center, so the name isn't just for show - you can tell that they've really thought about how to make spaces that work for those types of events/ situations. For example, there are plenty of different meeting and conference rooms, and they have a FULL gym, not just a treadmill and some weights like many other places. See the pics for what I mean! They also have a cool lounge area, complete with an open fireplace in the center of the room. Both my mom and I thought how cool it would be to be sitting around there in the fall. They also have a pool and hot tub, like many other hotels. There's a sauna in the locker rooms, which I thought was pretty cool, and it looked nice but we didn't decide to go in. Speaking of the locker rooms: they're also very nice! Definitely well-kept. The views from the hotel rooms are also STUNNING (and I do believe all the rooms are on the same side of the building, so all have the same view). The pictures unfortunately don't do this part justice. Because it's truly out in the middle of nowhere (only about 15mins from the main part of town though), there's just pretty land for as far as you can see. The rooms are pretty standard: two queen beds, a fridge, keurig with a few options, bathroom with shower, and closet. No microwave in the rooms, but there was one downstairs where they had the ice and coffee. I appreciated that they had more than one type of flavored creamer (powdered). I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I got some because they had amaretto flavor, and it was good!!! At first because the drive there was so quiet and empty, we were a little unsure about what we'd gotten into, but as you can see it ended up being a great place to stay! I almost wish we were there longer. Would definitely go there again!

The pride they take with their cabins shows along with the other amenities. Cabins are spacious, lovely pine wood trim, pine dresser, flat screen TV with Netflix and other channels, mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, nice large bathroom with oil rubbed bronzed faucets; rooms are relaxing with neutral colors. The grill pavilion is beautiful; has 2 gas grills with grilling utilities and food seasonings (if need), patio furniture with bar stools around, a picnic table, Bluetooth stereo to pair your phone and listen to music while you cook or just relax. Has a horseshoe pit (Jenga and perhaps some card games would be great), has nice fire pit next to the grill pavilion overlooking the pond below, has trails to hike; just a beautiful place and we along with friends didn't want it to end. We highly recommend visiting The Woods on your visit to Lake Texoma, relax, make friends and enjoy yourself.

If you decide to stay in one of the cabins, you should remember to bring a big can of RAID…read more We had a 3 night reservation and found that we were sharing the place with woodlice. Also known as pill bugs or roly polys. They come out at night. The first night, there was only about a dozen of them. We dispatched them and went about our business. It seemed like they were coming out of the shower drain, so we covered it up. The second night, they doubled down. About 40 of the invaders arrived. We took care of the problem like the troopers we are. On the third night, we returned to our cabin at midnight. There was a flash mob of crustaceans waiting for us. The floors were alive with hundreds of the buggers. We swept them up and dumped them into the toilet, but they kept coming. They seemed to be coming from everywhere. Out of the woodwork. From under the bed. From the water heater closet. Fortunately, these Armadillidium Vulgare don't bite or sting. But it's not pleasant when they meet their demise under your bare feet. And it's pretty creepy when they're crawling on you in bed. In the morning, when we checked out, we reported the assault to Kelli at the front desk. She seemed a little skeptical until I showed her a picture of the toilet, loaded with a large group of captives about to meet their maker. Kelli asked why we didn't call them about the problem. The first 2 nights, it didn't seem like a big deal. The 3rd night was different. And, it was midnight. We didn't like the idea of waiting for someone to blast the bugs (and us) before we go to bed. And, we had already been informed that all other cabins had been rented. Kelli understood and wanted to offer compensation, but the manager would have to approve it. The manager was in a meeting. She offered to talk to the manager, and we would get a call from them later. Kelli called about a half hour later to tell us that the manager credited us 10% for our trouble. Well, I guess that about covers the sales tax.

The floors had duct tape stuck to the tiles, likely covering up cracks, which was a safety hazard. The kitchen was also in poor condition - there were coffee stains on the counters and crumbs left on the kitchen table from previous guests. In the bedroom, the light fixture didn't work, though there was a lamp as a workaround. Things only got worse when we pulled out the futon from the couch. The mattress was stained and dirty, with food wrappers stuck to it, indicating it hadn't been properly cleaned. To top it off, the bathroom door wouldn't lock, which was concerning for privacy and safety. While I considered filing a complaint with the office, I was hesitant as it was a weekend and I feared there would be no other cabins available. Given the high price for just two nights, I was expecting much better quality. Sadly, this cabin did not live up to the standards I was hoping for, and I left feeling truly disappointed. I really hope the property addresses these issues for future guests. Good nature views though. But for the amount I paid you could honestly get a better hotel room.
