Originally she was supposed to be transferred to Rhode Island Hospital because that is where her doctors were, but there were no beds available. Looking back, I truly believe it was a blessing that she stayed here because the care she received was wonderful. I especially want to thank Amanda, Victoria, and Sheila, and all the nurses and staff who took such good care of her and were so kind to our family during a very difficult time. He behaved bizarrely during the visit, was all over the place w/his attention, acted very…read morejumpy/nervous. When it came time to discuss test results, he was a typical egotistical dr that knows it all and doesn't like to be questioned once he tells you his diagnosis and where he stands, which basically was to do nothing w/my medication. He threw the responsibility to manage my blood pressure meds to my primary, which is a NP. Had to repeatedly ask for copies of my most recent test results to be sent to primary & for myself, got the runaround & excuses by woman that answers the phone and sits at the window when you walk in. I requested to have hard copies ready for me to pick up so I could bring to a new cardiologist b/c I didn't want to go back to San Antonio and found out after I'd handed them over to new dr, I'd been given test results from several years ago. When I called and spoke to the woman who did that, she denied she did anything wrong & claimed she had provided the most recent copies, but then bagged herself and said she sent over the results to the new dr b/c they had called requesting them since they weren't in the envelope I'd been given. Stay away from this horror show of a practice.

That's basically a cardiologist that specializes in electrical rhythms and activities in the heart. There's a whole lot of complicated things going on in the ol' ticker to keep it going and this a a guy that figures it all out. Dr Chu deals with a whole heap of different cardiac problems including atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy, hypo and hypertension, aneurysm, heart failure, valve disease and lots of other things with very long and difficult names. He does various procedures like electrical cardioversion, ablation, angioplasty and bunch of other heart related problems. He of course collaborates with other cardiologists and physicians so a patient gets the best possible care for their particular condition. Dr Chu is obviously very competent and experienced at what he does but he also is a very pleasant individual that will take the time to explain exactly what needs to be done, why it has to be done and how he is going to do it. Having someone messing around with your heart can be a rather stressful situation for any patient. But Dr Chu will not only do an excellent job of keeping your ticker doing what it's suppose to do but also keeps you informed and relaxed as possible while doing it.

We chose Dr. Levin based on his reputation and distance from our home. The hospital called Dr. Levin's office and they agreed to see my husband and his personal information was sent to their office. We were told by the hospital that they would be expecting our call the next day to schedule an appointment. My husband called as requested and was told their computers were down and to call the next day. We called the next day and were told the same thing. I had an appointment that day in the area and stopped in. Their computers were not down, and I was told that they were setting up new software and that they should be up and running on Monday and to try back then. I called on Monday and was told that they were up and running, but that they could not make an appointment for my husband, because Dr. Levin stated since he did not perform Bob's emergency catheterization and heart surgery, he could not see him. My husband did not have a routine procedure in the hospital and he has never had a cardiologist. So who does he go see? I explained the entire information above to the staff member and she said she would call me back. I was called back and told that Dr. Levin could not see my husband until June. This is April 1st. At this point I became upset, because while this is all going on, I have my husband less than 1 week out of cardiac surgery, extremely upset and stressful over this whole appointment thing. He is supposed to be resting after just having a major heart attack and cardiac surgery. I asked their office to call him directly and let him know, but I forgot to give them his phone number. They then got back to me again and I was told that Dr. Levin would see my husband on Thursday, just 2 days later by coming in early especially to see my husband. While I am on the phone just about to say a heartfelt thank you and feeling relieved, I have their office manager on the other line calling in. Very condescendingly, she says they can't see my husband at all. Now do you think I got upset at that point? You better believe it. I have never in my life experienced a doctors office that showed absolutely no compassion or consideration for the patient. And their professionalism and how they handle the entire matter was deplorable.
