Good school, graduated from the VN program in June 2024, passed NCLEX on August 13, 2024, and got my first LVN position two days later. Currently a student in their accelerated LVN-ADN program. It's a tough one, but if you make it through the first two semesters, you're sure to graduate. It's worth the investment. read more

I attend this school and trust me I know what everyone else says about it and I already knew that they favor those who are in the 1 percentile, and not encourage people in other words doing the real cause. I know because I attended IDEA, they had the same views and goals and crazy lve for money over caring about the students as this school and I've attended IDEA from 6-my senior year that is how I know. However if there's one thing I've learned is that self-esteem is important but it's good to be praised by those around us as it gives us meaning and purpose, but you have to love yourself first. like the old saying goes if they aren't going to help you or do it right then do it yourself. What I'm trying to say is the program is good but it's the people who need to change, not you. Ignore the ones who aren't going to care, they aren't worth your time stop trying to live up to their expectations and start doing things your way, the ways your most comfortable with it doesn't matter how you start it only matters you finish. There would always people who mock or judge you for "not being good enough at something" but it doesn't mean you are horrible at everything and it doesnt define your intelligence it only defines your interest in something worth your time and love . for sake nobody's is perfect, I'm not the biggest fan of history but I love math. Would not recommend this school.. We were not well prepared at all by faculty for state exams! They have a high recidivism rate and they are selective about who they will encourage to succeed. If they see you make waves, they will simply ignore you. The mission of the director/CEO, Dr. Annabelle Rodriguez, as stated in the April issue of Contempo Magazine, is "to provide a culture of learning in high demand fields within a supportive and motivating atmosphere". How they provide that culture and supportive atmosphere is questionable. I found one instructor, in particular, extremely unsupportive and unsympathetic. I can not imagine an instructor or director would actually tell a struggling student, "you are not cut out for this" and "there is only so much we can do for the student". Is that how they provide this "supportive" and "motivating" atmosphere? Ugh. It's ironic that this former elementary school principal and Weslaco school district administrator can mismanage things so badly and unable to maintain equilibrium and tranquility in the vocational healthcare school she now runs. Whenever I wanted to speak with her, she made herself highly inaccessible and did not return phone calls. She was for, or didn't show up for any appointments I had made with her. I had out of pocket expenses, not all of them I was reimbursed for such as the HEP B vaccinations (because I went to my own doctor and they did not tell me I had to go to theirs). Legitimate gripes are ignored or brushed aside. Schedules were changed around at a moment's notice. The school's catalog was hopelessly outdated, and it even says that the information in it is subject to change. And they DO NOT offer any tutoring whatsoever, it's solely at the discretion of the teacher which means there isn't any. Only my EKG instructor was willing to stay for tutoring. There were long and unnecessary interims between courses, partly because they had to wait for more students to enroll to justify the course. Weak ties in the community- (extremely surprising for someone who supposedly has strong ties in the community and was profiled in a local magazine!)-meant a long waiting period while they scrambled to place students for clinical assignments. Our classroom was either an oven or a freezer. Several students were treated badly by staff through no fault of their own, like being told to show up somewhere at a certain time and then suffering because the school did not confirm with the hospital the time or day the student was to report. The phlebtomy instructor arbitrarily changed our schedule and class hours at her convenience. The CNA and phlebtomy courses, which she taught, were drastically altered and shortened. The review was inadequate, and there was a long interim period for students between the conclusion of the classroom portion of the course and actual exam (something like two months). The director occasionally listens,but simply shrugs off legitimate gripes. This instructor cut corners, for the school's benefit, not ours, one day she insisted we each practice using the same 18 gauge needle on a fake arm (she said we used too many needles). She was sloppy correcting tests, I found mistakes in every single test I took, marking me wrong when I had the answer right. When I asked her about it, she said "how do I know you didn't change it? and "did I say I didn't make mistakes?" After tests, she simply handed them back w/o comment and then you had to return them. She didn't bother to go over the test so we could know what the correct answer was for answers we got wrong. For one excused make up test I as told I could only get a passing grade o a 75. I would like to know how is that a "motivating atmosphere" if I study my rear end off and the best I can expect is a 75 (C)? Bottom line is there are better managed schools out there which are more attentive to students' needs and that will prepare you better than this one for the job market and "high demand" fields. The general impression I received was one of strong mismanagement, nepotism and just incompetence on the part of management. Also questionable behavior on the part of some instructors. Worst school ever they say 13 months for lvn and extend it 3 months always they claim to be a private school so they can do whatever they want 30 grand for the program and they have the longest program compared to the other schools....favoritism is a huge thing here they favor students who's mommy and daddy pay more by letting them get away with stuff that others get kicked out for...the DoN of the school only cares about money if your parents can pay cash she'll give you preference if you get aid she treats you like dirt I'm embarrassed to go to this schools ask the nurses at the hospitals they dislike people from rgv careers cause of the rep it has cause of the teachers I have a few months left unless they extend it again which is why I'll put up with it but trust me there are better schools than this on this should be your last resort read more

I found this school to be tough but good. If you work hard, you can make it. I've seen people move to the valley just to go to school here to get certified. If you want an easy A, then this is not the place for you. I would recommend this to anyone serious about a medical career. read more

Veterans, stay clear from this school. Once tuition is paid, the veteran seems to fall through the cracks in all aspects. Not only are we not appreciated nor respected, but they will provide some of the sloppiest education and management of the course. They promise spiritual support and motivation, but will make the appearance to save face when they fail to provide. Please do not waste your hard earned VA benefits on this school. They lack instructors and place one instructor for 2 to 3 classes at one time leaving students unattended for extended periods of time. This is very counter productive in training for preparation of certification exams. Some instructors attempt to teach without being subject matter experts. Staff will find every excuse to prove themselves in the right regardless of their obvious mistakes. They do not accept responsibility nore accountability when they have wronged a Veteran or student. There are other schools which can provide outstanding training in order to succeed. Again, stay clear. read more

I came here to the allied health program (Medical Assistant) and all I can say is this, they suck. They will always favor the LVN students more and I understand but that still sucks when you're down the hall and you can see what's happening. When you first come for more information they will sugar coat the hell out of this program. They say they will provide you with everything you need and that is just a load of bull. Realistically they will pass anyone just, so they look good. When it comes to consideration they just dont care. I saw classmates struggling whether it was financially, or family related this school doesn't care as long as they're getting their money. Class scheduling is horrible, they will throw you in anywhere they have no system for what you will be doing. Once you get to your core classes be prepared they give zero f***s for you. I had not one but two classmates that had some family members that got cancer and so of course they got a tad bit behind and when they asked for an extension and it was flat out denied because it wasn't an excuse. Even in the allied health (just like everywhere else) there is much of favoritism. In the end, if someone asked what I thought about them coming here my response would be an honest as possible. Dont come to this school, it's a waste of money and all you get out of this is a bad experience and a headache. read more
