Business claims I was not the payee. I am, very much, the payee.

Frankly, I don't know where to begin with this. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business, even in the valley. This experience is the reason I am reluctant to deal with any locally-owned businesses anymore. There is no accountability. On 06/02/2018 my wife took an Adult Driver's Ed Course after obtaining her Learner's Permit, based on a misleading advertisement that used to be on their website (which they removed in January 2019), claiming that the Adult Learner's course was needed in order to file for a bona-fide Driver's License. Since we were both from out of state, we were unfamiliar with the licensing process in Texas and did not have any resources available to help (the state's website was also just as convoluted and unhelpful), we did not know that she did not need this course. She went in to take the class, and asked one of their employees where she should write down her permit number on one of their forms. He said it is not needed, and allowed her to sit for the course, despite now knowing she had a permit. They "finally" figured out that she had a permit after completing the course (conveniently for them). According to her, the owner displayed an incipient bad attitude, berating her for taking the course. Since I had paid for the course for her, I corresponded back-and-forth with the owner Mr. Gurrera about this. We agreed to meet on a Saturday morning about a week or two after this. I went in thinking we would get this resolved and either credited or refunded for the unnecessary course. Instead, Mr. Guerra sat me in a chair while he and another employee verbally berated me for this. Mr. Guerra even had the nerve to imply that my wife was being dishonest, stating "I'm a police officer. You can trust me". His employee later tried to defend the latter statement, claiming that he only says that to establish credibility when teaching his course. They later denied ever making this statement. Since I was not one of his students, he had no business making this kind of statement to me. It was nothing more than an attempt to intimate us away from pursuing this further. Mr. Guerra, also tried to condemn DriversEd.com for not telling us what the next steps were. After this, he refused to communicate with us any further until we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They provided a multi-page dissertation filled with misinformation and made a ridiculous claim that I did not even pay for my wife's course. I DID pay for the course, and I have the receipt and debit card charge to prove it. They also finally offered a resolution: a discount on their on-the-road training course. While we appreciate this offer, it came more than six months after my wife already got her driver's license, and therefore was just another service that she did not need (trying to pull the same trick twice?). After being mistreated here, she had already gone to one of their competitors to finish her driver education and take her road test. The offer also proved to be completely disingenuous, since they refused to respond to any further communication from us. If anything, they ultimately lost money by treating us like this and losing our business. This is why the owner's behavior confuses me, and leads me to think that he must be very spiteful and vindictive to sacrifice revenue just to make a point. They also vehemently defended their misleading advertisement, but they subsequently removed it without further comment about a week later. While we appreciate them finally taking a step in the right direction, they still refused to work with us to resolve the unnecessary expense. After having our legal firm send numerous demand letters, we decided to file suit earlier this year. Even then, they still refused to communicate with us and still stubbornly denied any responsibility. Unfortunately, we had to discontinue the suit because of a COVID-related situation. This is disappointing, as I would have liked to see what lame excuses they would come up with in court to defend their ridiculous behavior. With all of their contradictory statements so far, it would not be hard to catch them in a lie. Overall, the owner and his employees have handled this dispute very poorly. Regardless of who may be at fault, I am appalled at the owner's lack of respect and inability to handle this issue. The only time people clam up like this is usually because they know they're in the wrong, and do not want to take ownership of a problem they caused. Countless attempts at written correspondence and settlement letters and e-mails have gone unanswered. That is no way to run a business. However, my offer still stands. If Mr. Guerra (or his employees) read this, I am willing to speak with you again and attempt to work this out. I am a reasonable person and I do not seek this sort of conflict. You have my phone number and email. Get in touch with me.

Very low level of professionalism. Lacking good faith in dealing. Situations arise requiring you…read moreto pay more than the agreed upon amount in order to complete contracted work. Signed my daughter up for driving classes online, and the 30 hours in car driving. Online classes were not a big deal...my daughter signed on, read the assignment for the day, took a quick quiz sometimes, then logged off...no interaction with a teacher or an other employee at all. Not a good sign, but not really a big deal. The in car driving experience was another matter. We were told to log on to they're website on Thursday for available driving times during the next week. The first Thursday, we logged on at the exact time when drives were supposed to be posted. THREE, I repeat, THREE driving times were available for the next week. Three for the entire week...not three per day, Three for the entire week. This must have been a fluke, so let it pass and proceeded to the next week. Again, THREE total driving times were available for the next week. This happened for an entire month. They had only THREE driving times available every week. The driving schedule was like this: Monday - 2:00PM to 4:00PM Tuesday - 2:00PM to 4:00PM Thursday - 2:00PM to 4:00PM I was unable to get out of work before 5:00, so I had specifically asked when I signed my daughter up for the class if they would have in car drives after 5:00 or on the weekends. I was told a definite yes...both evening drive times and weekend drive times would be available...no hesitation or thought put into in...simply yes. As shown above, this turned out not to be true. I went into the office to see what was going on...maybe someone was sick? Maybe someone was on vacation? Maybe I could work something out in person. Sure enough, I was able to work out something in person. I was told that I could be penciled in for an extra $15.00 dollars for each driving time. This would have bumped my $300.00 fee for a class and driving time package up to $405.00. I'm never a big fan of a lack of good faith in the people that I am dealing with. So I asked to withdraw my daughter at the point she was at without doing any driving time. I could sign her up with another school. I didn't ask for my money back because the money is really not an issue for me. I was not offered my money back when I said I wanted to transfer her. Instead, I was told that in order for them to release her paperwork to me, I would need to pay them another $50.00. At that point, I dropped all dealings with Cazares Defensive Driving School, and will never deal with them in any other way.
