The team was exceptionally knowledgeable, highly motivated, efficient, polite, and remarkably neat. After Anthony clearly explained the difference between polyurethane and water-based coatings, we chose a water-based coating (and it's gorgeous). The team, clearly a group of experienced professionals, did a great job! Pricing was reasonable. No hidden costs. No surprises. I highly recommend Acme Wood Flooring.

I was first told the job had been done (I assume they thought they could get away with pretending to do it since I live so far away but little did they know I'm friends with the neighbors) and then was told it was just a mix up. Since then nothing but excuse after excuse.

This year, I finished the biggest project yet: my kitchen. It was a down-to-the-studs renovation - a big job. The day John came over to scope out the project, he stressed that he wanted my family to be comfortable with everybody on the team. "Kitchen renovation is the most disruptive thing you can do to a house. We're going to be living with you for months," was how he put it. : ) All of the folks who spent time here were skillful, conscientious, and friendly. In every way, they were a great team. The next time I have any renovations to do, I'll definitely go to John Walston and Skylands!

Thursday arrived with significant work left to be done with Friday deadline. Work was rushed from then on and the end result showed it. Paint job was terrible. Tile floor was also cobbed. Much other evidence of hurry up and finish attitude. Issues were addressed a week later after several calls and waiting around for work to be completed again. Overall a very stressful , inconvenient and unimpressive experience. Felt our little job wasn't a priority . Would not recommend this company as they seem to have too much work to handle with reliable, satisfactory work for every job taken on.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! I originally decided to work with McDonald Construction for an interior…read moreremodel including new layout of kitchen, bathroom, and dining room, because I was impressed with the time Jeff (owner) took with me during the estimate process and I liked his attention to detail. However when the job started I didn't realize Jeff wouldn't be involved much at all. Instead the Foreman running the job didn't share the same values as Jeff, He is actually a complete HACK and I would never let him in my home again. Jeff's price was by far not the cheapest but I thought it would be worth it for a job well done. Instead all the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC was done by the foreman who clearly has no business to be in that line of work. It was all done incorrectly, with many shortcuts taken. He also lied and cheated his way through every inspection process that clearly needed to be done. After many missed deadlines, a job that was estimated to take 8 weeks was stretched to over 20 weeks where I was finally forced to remove this company from the job and spend more time and money finishing with other contractors. After just a few short months I am already having issues with the work McDonald Construction performed.
