I remember visiting North Carolina and going to Gabe's. I love that it's a discounted bargain store. We pulled up and there's plenty of parking. This store is - odd.. they do carry a wide variety of lightweight home furnishings and decor, seasonal items, beauty, clothing, shoes, housewares, toys, gourmet food items, accessories, and baby stuff.. but it's so disorganized.. it's nearly impossible to look for anything.. it's like if Dollar General and TJ Maxx had a baby- it could be Gabe's.. They occasionally have a few items of interest, yet the displays are awful) yet better than than in comparison to the day they first opened)........but it's always a bit of a eyesore.. it always seems as if the manager needs to straighten the place up.. it is chaos!! Then at my wifes urging we took a bit of a drive out to Flint. The day before I had called Lapeer Furniture and Mattress with some questions. I was promptly called back in less than five minutes by a attentive Dan in sales. But, the drive, I was not wanting to waste 1/2 a day away. Well lets say happy wife, happy life. We made the drive out. Easy to find and walked in, note entrance is on side, if you go to the front you wont get in. Well, Dan was working and I introduced ourselves me saying and complimenting his phone skills from yesterday. I must say unlike ArtVans they let you shop and dont hound you. We were impressed with the selection and prices. Dan helped us out and we ended up buying a couch and loveseat for our new home. Well, worth the trip and we will be back.

Also keep in mind the sales representative never has contacted me to update about anything I always have to call and asked for a update. I filed a dispute to get my money back I will post a update!

I've picked up a few of the more unique Christmas gifts for my wife here, like jewelry and blown glass crafts. The selection is usually excellent and they often have a small clearance/sale area, including pieces that are sold in tandem with recent/past art exhibit installations in the museum. FIA members always receive 10% off all museum purchases. I'm a member and take advantage of the small discount in the museum gift shop and the cafe nearby. Every time I come in here, there is something new. It's never the same twice. Excellent customer service and overall merchandise quality and selection. The store is located near the front entrance to the museum, across from Isabel Hall and next door to the art rental kiosk and the cafe. It's open whenever the FIA is, including during special evening and weekend events and after hour functions. Otherwise, the shop holds the same business hours as the FIA does. Next time my wife and I stop in for an event, I'm sure we'll wind up picking up something here for ourselves, like an art book or print. It's inevitable.
