By far the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. They left the items I paid them to fix in worse condition than before they worked on them. Moreover, their customer service was absolutely terrible. They took my money and left me to hire a second contractor to fix the work they performed. Based on my experience, this is an unethical company that is unqualified to perform even basic repairs.
First, they were hired to re-grout my shower. After performing the work, they told me that the shower could not be used for 3 days. To be safe, we waited 5 days before we used the shower. Shortly after we started using it, the grout started peeling off. I advised Rey's that we had waited 5 days to use the shower and sent them pictures of the failing grout. Rather than apologizing or offering to accommodate me in any way, Rey's asserted that I must have used the shower before the 3 days was up, because "that's the only way it would have failed." Melissa from Rey's stated "it is my understanding that the cure time was 3 days and the shower was used before the 3 days. Therefore, we are not liable at this point." I'm not sure where she got that from - it was a completely made up statement. Aaron's follow up email stated: "This grout here cures in 24 hrs . . . and the only way it would peel like that is if water was ran in there before the 24 hours." No one at Rey's addressed the fact that we waited almost twice as long as they recommended to use the shower but their work still failed. Instead, they simply asserted that I must have used the shower before the 3 days was up, a completely false accusation so that they could try and avoid responsibility. When I had someone else fix the grout (as it was clear to me that Rey's was incapable of performing the work properly), they advised me that Rey's didn't clean or prep the surface which is why it peeled off right away.
Rey's was also hired to fix a running toilet. After they "fixed" it, it began making new noises and not flushing properly. I was forced to hire a plumber to fix it and he advised that they had not put the parts in the tank back together correctly.
The replacement of a doorknob was also too difficult a task for Rey's to handle. They installed a knob that was far too small for our mudroom door leading into the garage. It didn't look right to me and I discussed with them that the door didn't seem to close all the way. They just stood there and looked at me. By that point, I was fairly certain they were incapable of fixing this (or any) issue, so I just let it go. After a few days, the gap in the door became more noticeable and there was cold air streaming in from the garage. There's such a big gap that you can actually see light coming in from the garage. I took pictures and sent them to Rey's. Aaron initially offered to come out and look at it to "see why they had to adjust the hit plate that far out." We made an appointment for later that week. A few hours later, Melissa emailed me stating "I don't understand what you're trying to do here, because to me it seems like you just don't want to pay for the services that were provided to you." Clearly enraged (simply because I sent photos of the door), she sent another email about an hour later threatening me with collections. By the way, I had already paid $600 to Rey's at that point. There was a remaining balance of $120, which was not even due yet. After Melissa's emails, I was so appalled by this company that I told her to forget sending anyone out. I had had enough and just wanted to be done. I don't think they were capable of fixing these issues, which would explain why they were hyper concerned about getting payment before their work was done.
I paid Rey's hundreds of dollars for work that I've since had to pay other contractors to fix. When I brought it to Rey's attention that their work failed, instead of making it right, they told me that I must have done something to make the work fail and threatened me with collections (even when I had paid them a significant amount of money and the remainder was not even yet due). Melissa was extremely rude and downright nasty to me simply for advising her of work that was not properly performed. Not once did I receive any sort of apology. Instead, I was met with hostility and threats of collection. I have never experienced anything like it and I truly don't know how this company is in business. I've never written a review of any kind before but had to share my experience so that anyone considering hiring this company will know what they are getting. I certainly wish someone had warned me. read more
