They're environmentally responsible and sustainable. We trust their methods and have never been disappointed by their produce. Have to give the cantaloupes a second mention. There's flowers, vegetables, pastries to snack on while walking around, a lot of starter plants to get your own garden going, and most all the vendors are nice and extremely knowledgeable. They're always willing to give gardening advice. The honey stand doesn't have the greatest customer service but a lot of different flavors and good prices for honey. A few stands sell farm fresh eggs (THE best eggs), but when summer rolls around everyone wants eggs so they sell out fast, be sure to get there early. There are stands for kids, from local non-profits, many times there's live music, and it's walking distance to great local shopping, restaurants, and activities in downtown Albany, which means there is plenty of parking. Earth Day at farmers market is particularly fun. Last summer they didn't allow dogs, which makes me sad, but I've been seeing more dogs here and there. As a community that is not always the most engaged, this market is a great jumping off point and has a lot of potential to increase community engagement. If we all frequent the local farmers market it will get bigger, offer more products, activities, and local resources, and get community members from all neighborhoods connected.

If you are in the Corvallis/Albany area- and aren't already familiar with their farm, you are missing out. Their thick cut shoulder bacon has made me a believer in the bacon craze. Beautiful pork chops/roasts and seasonal lamb. Seasonally, they produce the best ham I have ever tasted- either in roast or steak form. The chicken is divine, and spoils you for the slimy grocery store alternative. They also offer goat, duck, eggs, and an array of pork sausages. They recently started selling grass-fed/finished buffalo that cooks up like a steak that I can't afford. Their prices are quite reasonable, and veer away from the high price tag normally associated with 'small batch' style farms. This is farm owned and operated by a local Corvallis family, who are incredibly nice people- who care about the animals that they raise- and the products which they offer. A visit to the farm is worth the short drive, but you can also catch April at the Corvallis Farmer's Market.
