Visited their booth at the Beaverton farmers market. Produce selection is excellent, everything is organic, the onions are spectacular, beautiful veggies in season. Real, fresh food. Staff is semi-friendly.
The issue is that apparently they still think it's 1996. I would not be surprised if there was a rotary phone behind the counter. I would not be shocked if they still file their taxes on paper forms. Not using modern pesticides, no GMOs and keeping everything organic is awesome, but what ISN'T awesome is that I couldn't pay with a card or with ApplePay. Let me reiterate... They do not accept cards or ApplePay. It's 2016, everyone has a smart phone. Cars are sold in the mall. You can stream almost any song from almost any album from your pocket. Commerce has evolved. The year is 2016 and these clowns STILL don't accept cards or ApplePay. I can only assume it's a cost issue, albeit a cost-cutting measure which creates a major inconvenience for customers. 50% of the chatter within their booth is "do you have cash", "they only accept cash", "i'm going to run to the ATM to get cash" etc... Clearly the folks at Denisons are ignoring the feedback from paying customers. If it was the 1990's and difficult to except cards/ApplePay at a farmers market then I would give them a pass, this wouldn't be an issue. But it's not, it's 2016. I bought air plants at the farmers market with a card. I bought honey with a card. It is VERY easy to accept cards, almost easier to accept ApplePay. Yet Denisons still stubbornly refuses, perpetuating a hardship which should have ended with the advent of Square, Clover, etc... Disappointing and sad. read more
