It's a small farm, but the family who runs it is super friendly and helpful. It's 30 cents a pound, which is cheaper than some of the other farms in the area. We got a couple of huge pumpkins and some small ones too and everything came out to about $18-we thought it was a great deal and experience. They encouraged the other person to peruse the side with the home goods. However, I did not get any welcoming words and even at the register, the communication was minimal. - Cash or credit? Do you need a bag? - I am the person that gets invited to bible study by strangers at Barnes & Nobles. I do not have RBF. There's flowers, vegetables, pastries to snack on while walking around, a lot of starter plants to get your own garden going, and most all the vendors are nice and extremely knowledgeable. They're always willing to give gardening advice. The honey stand doesn't have the greatest customer service but a lot of different flavors and good prices for honey. A few stands sell farm fresh eggs (THE best eggs), but when summer rolls around everyone wants eggs so they sell out fast, be sure to get there early. There are stands for kids, from local non-profits, many times there's live music, and it's walking distance to great local shopping, restaurants, and activities in downtown Albany, which means there is plenty of parking. Earth Day at farmers market is particularly fun. Last summer they didn't allow dogs, which makes me sad, but I've been seeing more dogs here and there. As a community that is not always the most engaged, this market is a great jumping off point and has a lot of potential to increase community engagement. If we all frequent the local farmers market it will get bigger, offer more products, activities, and local resources, and get community members from all neighborhoods connected.
