Mike is an excellent communicator and organized very skilled subcontractors to work on my project. My HOA was a pain in the neck, but Mike shepherded me through the barriers they put in our way. There were also challenges due to the Covid shut downs and lack of availability of materials, etc. However, he managed it all beautifully and kept me in loop about progress and optimistic that it would all work out. I was always impressed with the esthetic decisions he made on my behalf. I have recommended him to my closest friends. The final product was beautiful and I couldn't have been more pleased.

He seemed attentive and the next steps were to have him go to the house to measure and preview things. I never heard from him again. His office did call to let me know that they were going to go to the house and after they had been there to measure I never heard back from them in any shape or form. Totally ghosted me and I had several large projects on my list that I thought would be right up their alley. No worries. I found another company and things went smoothly and I have several projects scheduled and materials already secured and purchased. Silver lining that they never called back, but totally unprofessional. I found it really odd that the owner of the company would not email, or text me after a 30 minute project review but have the company rep communicate with me instead. That is a first for me and I have done dozens of jobs on multiple rentals and primary residences over the years.

Cole, the owner, is very easy to work with. He listens carefully to what you say and makes it happen. He gave us a schedule of work to be finished, and almost always came in on schedule. If there was a change, he was very good about communicating it. His guys and his subcontractors showed up when they said they would. His bid was easy to understand, straighforward, and there were very few surprises at the end. He was also very competitive, price-wise. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive. We had one hiccup with our lights and getting them installed (there was a delay), but it got done and to our satisfaction. We had a second hiccup with the cabinet installer (a sub). He was a total ass who thought it was ok to put holes in our walls and dents in our cabinets and screw holes in the cabinets where he knocked on the wall to find the stud and obviously missed. He actually told me it wasn't a big deal to scratch the cabinets or put dings in them because they were going to get dinged anyway with use. Ummm.. hello! You don't buy a new car with a dented bumper because you might run into something down the road! After I complained about him and showed the holes to Cole, he simply removed him from the project. His guys finished the cabinet hanging and did a fabulous job. Cole even came back out about 6 months after the job was done to adjust our dishwasher which had come loose from its moorings. He obviously stands by his work. Overall, TMD did a great job on our kitchen and we were super pleased with them and the results. It was our first experience with a contractor and Cole and his team made it effortless. I definitely recommend them!

We highly recommend MOTIF for your special design-build projects. They are an amazing team and our experience with them was absolutely top-notch. They helped us re-invent our built-in-the-late-80's home and create a place that is beautiful, functional, and feels like "us". On the design side, they had both a high-style approach to design AND an ability to listen to and incorporate our ideas and preferences. It was a delight to work with them. There was also excellent communication between the design side and the build side, which made a world of difference to us as the homeowners. Once the build phase began, there were workers at our house every day by 8 a.m. (never seen anything like it!). The build team members were exceptionally respectful of our space, accommodating of our needs, and kept us fully in-the-loop as things unfolded (and were great with our dog!). Listen. Home renovations are painful and expensive. But if you want it done really well, in a very reasonable amount of time, go with MOTIF.

He and his team were very professional and everything was completed to our expectations and in some cases beyond. Chuck did a great job of always checking to make sure things were done the right way and if he thought it wasn't good enough he made sure it got done to his standards. He is without a doubt the best contractor I've ever worked with. As far as budget and timeline goes the only things that went over budget were things that we decided to change or upgrade. I then received the attached response offering a completely different explanation than before. Rather than acting with integrity, the business elected to tell a lie, as the project was likely not lucrative enough for them. I made no reference to my budget, but the business assumed I would not be interested in paying their prices. I would like to offer a two-star rating, though, as the communication was quite prompt.
