Patients deserve transparency, respect, and clear communication -- none of which I received here. The experience of getting in, getting approved and getting scheduled for your surgery won't be any more difficult than a typical shopping trip. They literally handle everything. You'll meet Dr. Teng and you're going to be very confident that you're in good hands. He's a surgeon and pretty direct/efficient in his communication style, but his bedside manner conveys care, concern and most importantly, confidently competent. He's exactly the surgeon that you want. He's going to listen to your concerns, check you over and order tests as necessary. Your surgery will be scheduled, the check in and pre-op registration along with last minute tests like EKG & blood coagulation factors will be completed with no difficulty. I also explained that I was already experiencing problems involving my right forearm and thumb. Most importantly, I clearly told him that I did not want manual manipulation. I explained that I wanted ART (Active Release Technique) or other soft-tissue techniques instead. I believed I had been very clear about what I was and was not comfortable having done. Despite that conversation, he proceeded to pull on the very thumb I had told him was bothering me and cracked/manipulated my other fingers. I again told him that I did not want that type of treatment. Following the appointment, I experienced pain in my right thumb and forearm. I cannot say what specifically caused the pain, but considering that these were areas I had discussed with him beforehand, the experience was particularly concerning to me. My issue is not whether chiropractic manipulation may be beneficial for someone else. My issue is much simpler: I clearly communicated my medical concerns and expressly stated that I did not want manual manipulation, yet I felt that boundary was disregarded. Patients should be able to make informed decisions about the treatment performed on their bodies and should be able to expect that clearly stated treatment preferences and boundaries will be respected. Based on my experience, I no longer have confidence in this provider and will not return. The practice's response proves the point. Acknowledge that a consent boundary was violated instead of deflecting to billing policies, ART costs, or alternative tools. Overstepping physical consent during a medical or chiropractic procedure is not a misunderstanding of services--it is a failure to listen to the patient.

The whole process took about 30 minutes. Just started a new weight loss regimen so I will definitely be back to see the progression of my stats. It is so worth the drive. Whenever you call, no one answers the phone. When I finally managed to reach a staff member, Kelly, she was incredibly defensive. Instead of listening to my feedback or trying to help, she argued that they respond to every voicemail and dismissed my experience completely. Management needs to invest in proper staff training, improve their phone availability, and start returning customer calls.
