An Amazing Experience!…read more I can't express enough how thankful I am for Lori and the entire staff at Segovia. I recently needed to transition my 91 year old mother from her own home to assisted living. I researched many locations and visited a couple of them and none of them hold a candle to the quality and care of the Segovia staff. Lori from Marketing made the process incredibly easy and treated my mom with such care and compassion. They helped me get really nice rental furniture quickly from a trusted vendor and made the move in process seamless. The building facilities are top notch and beautifully decorated. I have now had multiple meals with my mom at Segovia and the food quality is amazing and the service is excellent. The staff has made us feel very welcome in such a short time. In my mom's first week, she has already started making friends and participating in the multiple activities in the development and offsite. If you are looking for the best in assisted living in the Coachella Valley, Segovia is the place!

From the first interaction with Lori Torres until this day, she was a great help for us and our decision. Lori took time to answer every question we had. It never felt like a sales pitch which we experienced with other places. Her attitude was always pleasant, friendly, yet professional. Kudos to Lori- a five star experience. So very happy we found SEGOVIA and mom can now call it her home.

So this review has a background of research in the desert area in which choices were available and fortunately finances did not get in the way of choices. I have been to the care facilities rated well and those not so well...and there are factors that I learned which are most important making your decision...size, care concern of the staff, administration, activities, actual accomodation, cleanliness, and sound ( you would be surprised how loud some places are due to room placement, thin walls, guests sitting alone in a hallway or inefficient response to call buttons so the place is just bells going off and sadly the lone patient or resident yelling for help.) I have visited the ones with stunning grounds and lobbies only to find the rooms dated and the staff overworked or doing the minimum to keep your loved ones alive. I have seen medical mistakes where fail safe systems failed due to staff not following protocol. So if I have to say one thing to anyone looking for their parent don't be fooled by the whistles and bells, don't be fooled by the fancy exterior or lobbies or a few lounges truly look inside. So now my review...Emeritus has been a consistent oasis for my parents. first my dad in their skilled nursing then my mom in both skilled and assisted living. ( Please note: I made a mistake for three weeks sending my mom elsewhere to another skilled facility in Palm Desert that allegedly had a great reputation with the pretty lobby and grounds etc but it turned out to be a place whose reputation did not match its care level and was more hype.Though the staff had competent members, mistakes were made too many times for comfort) this is to show my review is not solitary I visited numerous facilities while researching a place for my parent(s) Emeritus is clean, a quiet place where your parent or loved one can heal if in skilled nursing, they actually care and learn names, and work to improve your loved ones well being...you never sense the business side only the care side and they make the effort to comfort your parent and your concerns (only complaint which is common in skilled nursing was the food but you don't go there expecting fine dining). Their assisted living is lovely small quaint with activities. The RNs and CNAs are top notch and interact with guests, and know everything that's going on at anytime with all their guests and management is great. Accommodations are clean well thought out and with huge closets ( ok that may not be important to you but when your parent down sizes the ability to keep a lot of their personal clothes and items is very important) food is better ;) I simply can't say enough about this facility it's a little gem. And being across the street from Eisenhower hospital near many doctors is a plus. Now I don't know about other emeritus properties I can only judge this one, so this review is only about Rancho Mirage. So when you begin to look, consider this property for your parent and your piece of mind when you go home just knowing he or she is in safe hands is vital....because in the end that is all that matters.

My best friend Dennis and I found this place when it first opened so he would not worry about his beautiful father Trevitt feeling alone after his wife died in his golden years. He is a charter member. Well I promised my buddy that I would look after his father if any happens to him and unfortunately it did. I have looked after his dad, for 4 great years here, and after his passing of 102, his "girlfriend, Yoshie" who has no family in the United States asked me if I would care for her. The Palms makes it incredibly easy and I agreed. The wonderful people that manages the facility, Robbie, Vikki, as well as Lenny are very caring and responsive to the residents needs. Robbie tells a joke during dinner, reads the menu selections for the day as well as activities. They have a beautiful movie theatre (along with a popcorn and ice cream machine) and Robbie even dances at the sock hop with his wife Vikki. They both have monitors connected to each residence in case of an emergency. Vikki plays the piano, and knows each residence's health requirements, and serves dinner as well. She doesn't just see each person, SHE HEARS THEM. For she truly has a big heart. Stephanie is the "Big Bad" coordinator for entertainment, activities and exercise etc. She runs a "tight ship", works hard to keep everyone busy, happy and strong. She's understanding, but an alert traffic cop and will give tickets if she catches any resident speeding in their scooter or electric walkers! Dawn is the community sales director and always has a beautiful smile for everyone she meets. A breath of fresh air every time that I see her. She makes sure that this place always has a waiting list for people that want to live here. They have also have a private bus that takes them shopping, to doctor appointments, day on the town etc. Oh! I must mention that the meals are included...wonderful breakfasts, dinners and suppers, with a community refrigerator stocked with drinks and sometimes those late night snacks and munchies thought the day. I must give props to the young adults that work so hard in the facility led by Mariah. She knows every resident's name and how they like their salads, juices etc. and remembers special stories about each one. This group not only serve the meals, but they clean each apartment, wash beddings and the hallways are always immaculate because of them. tell me? Where did they find these angels? Executive Chef, Martin, who whips up incredible meals. And if you know a resident, be invited to their special dinners like Easter, Christmas or the like! Simply amazing!! He also makes sure that there are optional dishes each day for those who have discriminating or, allergic issues. These are just a few of the incredible things you will find here at this great place, but all in all, The Palms is a well run, happy, and a friendly new home away from home. Come and check it out! Sincerely, Darnell Harrison II.

Caregiving should be based on skills, experience, and compassion -- not gender. Male caregivers are fully capable of providing respectful, quality care. The assessment had NO physical aspect to it but then we were told my father "required too much care". My father worked until he was 83 as a stock broker...golfed until he was 90. He's 93 now. Not run very professional and I have been in the medical field for 50 years. Not only is the physical space bright and open and very clean, the people who work there reflect the space. Sunny and helpful. As an only child, I was able to sleep nights knowing mom had top notch care. Katia is a great cook, but also daily made the effort to serve my mother food that she was able to eat due to her issues with teeth and swallowing. They made the effort to create activities for the residents (movies, music, bingo and other games like Left, Right, Center). I can't count how often my mother told me how lucky she was to be there. Bright, impeccably cared for, the place felt *alive* which is in stark contrast to what I'd seen in other care homes. Instead of seeking refuge for my beloved family member, at Emerald Rose it felt like a place where he'd be able to thrive as much as person who'd just been through two strokes in two years. And he is not easy, my Dad, yet they handle him and his needs with care, respect and dignity which is another thing you'd automatically assume but is very much lacking in these settings. If you are looking for help, don't hesitate to look further: this is the best it gets. Thank you infinitely for allowing me to sleep at night Julie; you are all very special people.

Whoever does their hiring is doing a great job. All of them are especially compassionate and kind people and really love what they're doing. You can tell with most of them, this is their career, it's not just a pay check as I've seen in some similar facilities. A special shout out for Daniel who's in charge of the activities program, and Mike who's head of maintenance. They've been great :) Another thing you see is teamwork among the staff. My Mom has told us many times about how they'll fill in for each other no matter what their particular position is. The food is just okay. As with most facilities like this. They have their good days & dishes, and not so good. My Mom has found the things she likes and they do well so she pretty much sticks to those things. During the Covid lockdown it was a trying time for my mom. The staff worked very hard to keep the residents cared for physically, mentally and also socially through their activities program Engage Life. My mom isn't much of a "joiner" but through this program, she has participated more than usual. The people at the front desk are very pleasant and helpful and have always followed up when needed. Atria Palm Desert is somewhat of a smaller facility compared to some of them. It's very homey and clean. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a place for your loved one.
