I recently needed to transition my 91 year old mother from her own home to assisted living. I researched many locations and visited a couple of them and none of them hold a candle to the quality and care of the Segovia staff. Lori from Marketing made the process incredibly easy and treated my mom with such care and compassion. They helped me get really nice rental furniture quickly from a trusted vendor and made the move in process seamless. The building facilities are top notch and beautifully decorated. I have now had multiple meals with my mom at Segovia and the food quality is amazing and the service is excellent. The staff has made us feel very welcome in such a short time. In my mom's first week, she has already started making friends and participating in the multiple activities in the development and offsite. From Jon, the executive director, to the folks who do the laundry and keep everything spic and span. I'm fussy about her care, and I visited every day before the virus struck us. The people are all smiles and really care about the folks in their charge. The executive director has an open door and is immediately available to address whatever concern anyone might have. The food is better than decent. Served as best they can, with the lockdown. Snacks, drinks, all you want. Great attention to the administration of medicines. Timely and done with a smile. The staff has a way of making the folks feel "important," not just another body. And they keep us informed and advised. Important! I think they do a great job. It's the best that I have seen. Quiet at night, none of the screaming, commotion and smell that plague some of these long term care places. We are all waiting for the virus to abate so that visiting can get back to normal. I think they are doing the right thing testing and keeping people out who aren't necessary. They have a huge TV that they use to do zoom. (Or whatever) virtual visits. A nice touch. Mentally my Mother was of sound mind when she got to Mission Hills, but she was wheel chair bound. As her health declined, so did her care. We understand this is an "Assisted living" facility and not nursing care, however, but that doesn't negate their mission of helping the elderly and properly informing the family with updates of any health situations as they arise, and inform us they are unable to assist with their care properly in this facility. There was little to no communication regarding her health decline, until it was too late. My Mother was alone in her room for hours on end, often missing bathing, she had multiple bed sores, some of which quite large in size. They let us know at the final hour that in order to care for her properly her rent would increase significantly, so we made the choice to move her. Bottom line, if your parent is in decent health, active to some degree, and able to make decisions on their own, this is a fine retirement spot. If your parent needs any real assistance, go elsewhere, they will not get the proper care they need here. I waited to write this review until a few months after her death, so I could write it fairly and without emotion clouding my review.

My mom did not what to leave her home but with the extreme help of the directors Sheila and Anthony my mom has been safe and in her new home for going on 3 years . With the assistance of the new director Maria and Alma the recreational director my mom has flourished in her new surroundings. She goes out to lunch , gets her hair and nails done ( something she never did at home ), has constant activities and she has the 24 hour protection that Caleo Bay offers . One of the advantages here is that every resident has some degree of memory issues so everyone is in the same boat . My mom doesn't remember me anymore but I can live with that knowing that she is being loved and taken care of by the wonderful people at Caleo Bay . Thank you all .....

Excellence thrives! This is my 4th close family member to get early age onset alzheimers, so you could say I've seen ALOT of facilities ..... and this one tops the list!! She told me she would notify the Health & Wellness nurse and manager about my application. During that same conversation, she also suggested that I might want to apply for a different position because she had "never seen a male caregiver in assisted living." That comment was discouraging. Caregiving should be based on skills, experience, and compassion -- not gender. Male caregivers are fully capable of providing respectful, quality care. Being indirectly discouraged from a role simply because I'm male felt unfair and unprofessional. I was genuinely interested in working here, but this experience left me disappointed.

For the record, he walks with a walker, mentally sharp, takes care of all his own personal hygiene needs. I just don't feel like they were honest about what the reason was. My father worked until he was 83 as a stock broker...golfed until he was 90. He's 93 now. Not run very professional and I have been in the medical field for 50 years. I know about assisted living facilities (my mother was in an Oakmont for 12 years). I know about Skilled nursing and the difference between them. My best friend and I found this place so he would not worry about his beautiful father feeling alone in his golden years. Well my friend died and I promised him that I would look after his father if anything happened to him and unfortunately it did. I have looked after his dad, for 4 great years here, and after his passing of 102, his "girlfriend" who had no family in the United States asked if I would care for her. That's what I'm doing now. The wonderful people that manages the facility, Robbie,Vikki as well as Lenny are very caring and responsive to the residents needs. Robbi tells jokes at dinner, reads the menus, tells the activities for the day, what movies will be playing in their theater (along with a popcorn and ice cream machine) and dances at the sock hop with his wife Vikki! They both have monitors connected to each residence in case of an emergency. Vikki plays the piano, knows each residence health requirements, and serves dinners as well. She doesn't just see each person, SHE HEARS THEM. Stephanie is the "Big Bad" coordinator for entertainment, activities and exercise etc. And she runs a "tight ship"! Works hard to keep everyone busy, happy and strong. Understanding, with a big heart, and is the traffic cop and will give tickets if she catches any resident speeding in their scooters or walkers! Dawn is the community sales director and always has a beautiful smile for everyone she meets. A breath of fresh air every time I see her. She makes sure that this place always has a waiting list to live here. There is a bus that takes them shopping, doctor appointments, day on the town, etc. The meals include a wonderful breakfast , dinner and supper, with a community refrigerator stocked with drinks and some times those late night snacks and munchies throughout the day. Oh! I must mention about the young adults that work so hard in the facility led by Mariah. She knows every residents name and how they like their salads, juices etc. and remembers special stories about each one. This group not only serves, but they clean rooms, wash bedding and the hallways are immaculate because of them. Where did they find these people? The Executive Chef. Mr. Martin, who whips up incredible meals. And if you know someone who lives there, be invited to their special dinners like Easter or Christmas! Simply amazing!! He also makes sure that there are optional dishes for those who have discriminating or, allergic issues. That was the moment I knew this would be the best choice for my mom . The assisted living and memory care at The Palms is exceptional The management and staff all works as one to make this experience so amazing for your family . Family paid for top care level 4. She was left alone to fend for herself. Meals given, if not eaten no attempt to help her. Food horrible. Even staff said it was horrible. In a 10 day period they gave 1 shower. Family did 3 when they came to visit. We were starting to see red flags on lack of care. So I pulled bathroom emergency cord to see how long it took staff to respond. 45 minutes passed before someone showed up. Unacceptable!!! She ultimately fell in very early am hours not discovered for several hours. She was rushed to ER via ambulance. Luckily ok. We brought her back to our home after the incident. She had lost 10 pounds in 10 days. We were never able to bring her health back up from the experience she passed a being home with us less than a month later. Long story short this is not a place I would ever recommend. If care about your loved one do more research. I feel like we were duped by the Office staff. They have a few good care givers but they are so underpaid, understaffed and overworked they can do very little. 1 person for 14 patients on a couple of the occasions I was there. She went in relatively healthy beginning of February 2025 and passed in March. Absolutely Disgusting how our Elderly are treated!!!

A staff member will answer all of your questions and invite you for a tour and get you started. From our experience, the life of our loved thrived and our lives became immeasurably improved. The friendly staff is always present, always helpful, always happy. The buildings and grounds are open, beautiful, inviting and well maintained. Activities for the residents are varied, entertaining, fun and educational and more than I can keep track of. They include visits to popular local sites, restaurants, theaters and movies on site. Author visits, musical performances, educational events, holiday events and pride events and more. Medical issues are addressed by an on-site nurse. Meds are administered to those who need them, residents are driven to medical appointments and help is there when needed. I cannot say enough good things about the good care that my friend is receiving at Stonewall Gardens. Call them for assistance for your situation. Dan M.

Nobody really wants to move to assisted living... but the staff and atmosphere at Stonewall Gardens is welcoming and embracing. This has been a much needed resource to the aging LBGTQ+ community. Many staff share similar life experiences and individuality is embraced. Great care has been taken during COVID and there have not been any infections. Life has many transitions, especially as we age. If I find my self in need of assisted living services, I wouldn't go back in the closet... I'd go to Stonewall Gardens instead.
