We went for Stripparaoke and got there around 10:30pm. Parking wasn't great but I got lucky and got a spot on the street just in time. It was $5 cash to get in the door. The bouncer was super friendly and I felt comfortable immediately. We went to the bar and ordered food and drinks - I got a water and chicken strips, which may be insane at a strip club but I was starving and looking forward to some food. We got a table up front and watched the dancers and karaoke singers. It was a good time! The dancers are all very talented and incredibly strong. Dancing is definitely an art and a sport and these girls are all so so talented. They played well to the music and the crowd and interacted well with the people at the stage. The KJ was great at his job and encouraged lots of tips for the girls, which they absolutely deserved. The food took a bit to come out but was worth it. You don't think about food when you think of a strip club, but the chicken strips were great. They seemed housemade which surprised me! They were so good and hit the spot. They were also only $8 and came with fries, which is SO cheap. It was shocking and I loved it! The crowd was very well-behaved and respectful. They tipped well and I never felt unsafe around anyone. I was worried about gross men but everyone seemed fine. They had security wandering around making sure nobody was acting up which I think helped. There are basic rules, which seem obvious but may help anyone else who hasn't been to a strip club before: no touching the dancers unless they explicitly ask, no using your phone when dancers are out, if you sing you are expected to tip your dancer at least a dollar, and if you're at the stage you are expected to tip at least a dollar per dancer per song. Again, all obvious, but there's always someone who won't know. All in all this is a great club and was a great first time for me. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time and would certainly go back in the future. It is also incredibly affordable and is a great way to hang out with friends!

We entered, paid and immediately went to the back bar to order four beers. At some point while waiting for our beers we were told one of our party members could not be served. We asked why and were told he was too intoxicated. We politely explained he wasn't but they insisted he was so we walked away puzzled with three beers and went about our business. 40 minutes later after sitting outside I walked back up to the back bar and ordered two beers. I was told the other person had to be present to get a beer so I said ok I'll just order one beer and have him come up when he was done doing his thing. I put down a $20 to pay for my beer and waited. After a minute or so passed the bartender came up to me and told me I was cut off. I was shocked and politely asked why I was being cut off and was told I exhibited signs of being intoxicated. I asked how that was possible when they had served me before and I had done absolutely nothing to show I was intoxicated. I wasn't stumbling or slurring speech and I had not interacted with anyone at that point other than my friends. So I took my money walked back to the table where my friend was sitting and told him I had been cut off. My friend gets up and tries to order himself a beer and comes back laughing drinking a beer and rubbing it in my face. I'm upset at this point wondering WTF I did to get cutoff. Maybe 10 minutes pass and my friend with the beer is approached by staff with money in hand telling him he has to surrender his half beer as he was now cut off. They refunded his money but refused to serve him. So in talking to a couple strippers they told me that this happens from time to time where they cut people off. They told me the owners were very worried about the state board coming down on them. I can understand that but we were barely buzzed and acting like everyone else just going about our business but 3/4 of us were cut off. I have been to bars, clubs and strip clubs all over the world and have never once had an issue with being cut off, too drunk and never have been thrown out. I don't know if Oregon is like the Amish strip club capital of the world as they definitely have a short leash and it almost feels like they just make up reasons to stop serving you if they don't like you. I was told it was my tone by a stripper but if that was true why did my other two friends get cut off? Bottom line is this clubs customer service sucks. I didn't even get to enjoy the entertainment because I wasn't allowed to drink and felt I was being discriminated against. So if you find yourself in Portland stick to the bookshop and voodoo doughnuts because their strip clubs absolutely suck with Club Diablo being first in line to blow.

The bad things are they do double stages that are just two girls separately dancing so if you make it rain on a girl you like you're tipping out the lazy girl. Didn't make you want to tip on stages. They could interact or something. Also the smoke was way too much in such a small area. I feel some girls were lazy because they had a great partner who would get tipped out. Stages were better on Thursday night, they were great one after another and this Friday night was almost painful they were so lazy. Most of the time I was ignored because I'm a girl. I was looking back at old pics from like 8 years ago and the steak dinner special has only gone up like $2 in that time...that is effing wild! Acropolis is a Portland institution and it's such a Portland type place too especially back when Portland was known for being affordable and had an amazing value while also having the most strip clubs per capita in all of America. Growing up in Portland, after going to a club or a show or a Blazer game your choices of finding something late night to eat was limited to Taco Bell, Hot Cake House, Montage...and if you were with all your guy friends, the Acrop. I'm sure you all know by now, but the owners of the Acrop also own a cattle ranch, and are able to cut the middlemen out and offer you a fantastic steak or steak bites fresh from their ranch at rock bottom prices. Is this place going to beat out any steak at a proper steakhouse? No. Is it going to beat out a lot of the lower priced steaks at chains or pubs? You're damn right it will. Real ones know that you can call ahead or go around back and order from the pickup window. If you wanna eat on the go...steak bites are the way to do it...or if you wanna be a little more classy you can just get the standard steak special, and try to cut through that steak with plasticware lol. Portland has changed a lot in the last 20 or so years...but one thing that hasn't changed is how great a late night steak is at the Acrop for less than the price of a typical Taco Bell order, and I'll bet that it stays that way for decades to come.

Things have really improved a lot regarding the setting and hospitality. There's now an upstairs area and even an additional bar to the far side of the establishment. The bar staff and dancers were friendlier this time around and more willing to interact. I especially love the wide selection of music that Spyce plays as opposed to other clubs. They play more than just typical strip club music, but actually good songs. Including some 80's tunes! The services have improved in which you now can get the whole nine yards with dances instead of just half. Not to mention that they actually take debit! How many clubs offer that feature? Security is a little tighter than I remembered it, but that shows they care about providing a safe and fun time. Overall, I look forward to going back to see how this new and improved Spyce holds up. Maybe they'll be even more upgrades!
