Retro 101 is a must-stop shop if you are visiting Cherokee Street for the day. This vintage shop boasts a large variety of vintage goods ranging from jewelry, hats, handbags, accessories, shoes, and clothing for both men and women. They also offer certain seasonal items, like vintage Valentine's Day cards most recently, which are amazing! I picked up up one to send and a couple to keep since they were so cute. The staff are always helpful and are quite knowledgeable about the many pieces in the store. Retro 101 participates in Cherokee Street's Second Saturdays, and one staffer helped get my friends and I started on our stamp card and was happy to explain how it worked. It's a really fun thing to do to explore Cherokee Street and support local businesses on a Saturday evening. Thanks, Retro 101, and I'll be back again soon!

A gem of a vintage shop! The owner has an amazing eye and the selection is top tier. Women & men's apparal and accessories plus home decor. Always in style & worth visiting often.

This place is wonderful to hang out if you're a big fan of anything vintage, but especially clothes. This store not only sells vintage clothes but also: vintage jewelry, purses, shoes, accessories, artworks, lamps, coaches, tables, and weird/quirky/charming artworks/paintings. I didn't buy anything during my first time here because I was just browsing, but I definitely plan to come back here again for another fun day and hopefully buy something.

First time visitor but I will be back! This store is amazing!

Vintage nirvana! Go!! One of the largest collections of vintage clothing I've seen an the best in St Louis I've found! Be sure to ask the owner for assistance. He has some great items tucked away for special occasions and he has a great eye for styles! Loved it!!

The basement is worth going down to look at too, since it's full of cute, kitschy knick-knacks and furniture.

This place is terrible. This is a vintage resale shop where people can bring things in to sell that…read moreAvalon then turns around and makes a profit from. We have a business with a similar model where I'm from and I actually like it a lot. Why hate on this place? Several reasons. 1. No clearance. At all. My hometown resale store has a dollar rack and a big section with markdowns so I find something at a reasonable price pretty much every time I go. 2. Rude employees. I get tired of stick-thin wannabe models in clothes four sizes too big for me giving me dirty looks when I walk in to one of these "curated" stores in The Loop. 3. Bad organization. You can barely move around in here and forget pulling stuff off the racks! It's not worth the frustration of trying to dig through these tightly-packed racks like a dog burying a bone. They had a bunch of AliExpress junk cluttering up the jewelry and accessories. What a bore. It also wasn't very clean!

Super fun, quirky thrift shop. Lots of cute, retro stuff. I like to shop here for costume ideas…read morearound Halloween, too. Or just to browse around and not necessarily buy anything. You can definitely find some great conversation starters here. It can get really packed and congested in here on the weekends. Also, you can't try on clothing (at least I think you can't?) which makes it difficult to shop since everything is so unique, it's hard to tell if it will actually fit. Pricing is about average for this type of shop, some things definitely overpriced but if you browse enough you can find a good deal.

(Proceeds go to St. Louis's foster care coalition--their HQ is also in this same building). They have a selection of normal clothes -- women's and men's -- on the bottom floor, along with shoes and accessories (earrings and jewelry). But what really stands out is their cute formal dress section on the second level! Perfect for prom, wedding guest, bridesmaid etc. They have floor length dresses for $35 and shorter dresses for $25. They even have a few floor length wedding gowns for brides for $100!! (Plus a section for mother of the bride dresses). I've gotten 2 formal dresses here so far with lots of compliments (wore one on a beachy vacation and another as a destination wedding guest)!! I visited again this week as I thought I'd look for a wedding dress here since they have super affordable options. I didn't end up finding a dress in my size since they only have a few but it was still really impressive they had some in stock at all! And at this price point. There were some beautiful dresses in smaller sizes as well with big princess-like ballgown-style trains. They also accept donations. You can either get a tax receipt or a $5 off coupon! The staff there have also been very friendly every time I've gone!! They have the store decorated currently for their prom season--girls who are in foster care who are accepted into their program get to shop for a prom dress for free! So cool!

**May 2025: Monday Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I wanted to check out the thrift scene in St. Louis, but unfortunately a lot of the charity shops were closed on Memorial Day. I called ahead to see if Refresh had different hours and fortunately, they were open! There's a parking lot behind the building and when I stepped in I was really impressed by how nicely arranged everything was. It definitely gave off boutique vibes and there's a dressing room on the top floor along with many aisles of formal/prom/wedding dresses. The price point for the casual day-to-day items were a little higher than that of a Salvation Army/Goodwill, but everything was steamed and in really good condition, plus all the proceeds are given to St. Louis's Foster Care Coalition (and no tax). The men's section was pretty small, but the women's was really stacked. When I went to the 3rd floor to check out the formal wear it was like a kid in a candy shop. They arranged the formal dresses by size and there were some really incredible finds there. Unlike downstair where everything is priced individually I believe all short dresses were $25 and the long ones were $35, and my guess is that these dresses are left over from their Cinderella project (gifting girls a fairytale prom experience without worrying about money). I think I spent almost 2 hours in the shop and I still didn't get to try everything one, but I was happy with my purchases. One thing to note in the future - I will wear proper spanx/strapless bra to improve my formal dress shopping experience. Otherwise, this charity shop is a fantastic place to support a great mission and treat yourself! It's a win-win!

The space is really big and packed with records, DVDs, CDs, you name it. Everything is labeled pretty well but it can definitely feel overwhelming just because of how much there is. The good news is the staff is super friendly and easy to approach, so don't hesitate to ask them for help or something specific. I was also surprised by how much international stuff they carry. They even had a recent Kpop album from a group I like and I did not expect them to have it in stock. Overall just a really fun place to come to with friends, flip through some records, and maybe find something you weren't expecting. Would go back!

Not only did they have it available but it was priced well too. The staff was very friendly and this place is huge. Highly likely that whatever you are looking for, they'll have it here. My only issue would be parking. I was lucky to find a spot in front but usually it's busy in the loop so get make sure you are good with walking. Still a great location with all the other shops around. I will definitely return as my kids are into vinyl records now and would like a few of their own.
