The Retina Center is a good placed to go when you have eye problems that affect your vision. On THE DOWN SIDE: THEY ARE CLOSING THEIR DOORS AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2026. Sorry to see them go. read more

I find Dr Waterhouse would be rude no bedside manner at all he had very arrogant that he was the only retina specialist on the Western slope which is not true. I sent a friend that was in from out of town there and he had a problem with his retina they blinded him in his right eye read more

I wanted a 2nd opinion from my current DR. Waterhouse demanded that I get the notes from my current DR before he would see me. That's ridiculous, a 2nd opinion is not reviewing a current DR but it's forming a new analysis based on his own evaluation. read more

Outstanding treatment, best of the many retina specialists I have utilized. Dr Waterhouse and the treatment staff were thorough and very professional including providing laser treatment for a retinal tear after business hours following a comprehensive examination. Most impressive is that among the 15 specialists from whom I have received treatment, this was the best. I definitely will go back if I have further problems while in Western Colorado. read more

Dr. Waterhouse fixed my retina detachment in mid-2023 and my vision slowly became worse. I finally went to the University of Utah where they identified the issue: Dr. Waterhouse used silicone oil to fix my retina. I learned that this oil was mixing with water inside my eye and emulsifying---creating bubbles which blurred my vision. He refused to correct the problem so after almost two years of near blindness, I went to the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah who fixed it and restored my vision. . read more

Get rid of office manager, Susan she is rude and blames you if you have any problem with service. Replace Dr Pollard. She is not competent to give eye injections. read more

Susan, the billing person, is rude and unprofessional. She lied, failed to file our claim with our insurance and said she would send us a claim form and we could do it ourselves, even though they are an in network provider. We were quoted a price and then billed a much higher price. We were told we were sent a statement outlining everything "a week and a half ago" only to find out it was never sent. Don't hold your breath if you leave a message because you will wait over a week to get a call back. I recommend you go somewhere else because she clearly should not be in the healthcare business. read more

The employees at the Retina Center will let you know they are the only Center in western CO. They pride themselves on we don't need you, you need us. Well, our recommendation would be to take your business elsewhere. It's really to bad because we thought Dr. Waterhouse was a good doctor and a kind gentleman. The staff has just been given to many liberties and they have become accustomed to being very rude to the patients. The office manager Susan is the worst. Glenwood and Durango are not that far away. Get a hotel and make a mini vacation out of it. Just our opinion... The lone star is entirely for the good doctor. The Armendariz Family read more

I recently visited this office and was very pleased with the staff for the most part. The office has reinstated mask protocal, which is fine, however I was reprimanded for not having a mask on with a distance of 15-20 feet. I'm a nurse so I know the guidelines well and I pointed out that I was more than 6 feet away, to which the response was, 'but you're still breathing'. Please educate your petty office manager of the guidelines, and perhaps not treat patients like infants. read more

My husband needed emergency retina surgery. I was just out of the hospital on crutches with a broken femur, so a neighbor dropped us off. The staff was furious that I wouldn't stand out on the side walk, on crutches, in the heat while the hour+ surgery was being done! They said they didn't have room in the waiting room. I was literally the only one in the waiting room at the time. For subsequent visits they were very rude & irritated that I politely stated, "I am recovering from femur surgery & I'm not sitting in 100 degree weather out on the sidewalk". They finally gave me a list of other retina centers in Glenwood Springs, Durango, & Denver, "because they can refuse service to anyone ". We already have an appointment with a very reputable surgeon who comes to Glenwood on Thursdays & Fridays monthly. We're happy to be getting a second opinion on his eye care anyway. I highly recommend you assist your elderly parents in getting the care they need without putting the caregiver/driver one at a serious health risk in extreme weather outside! read more

This place is beyond pathetic! It is amazing how every so often you run into a private practice where the doctors allow their staff not just slack in their service roles but go the opposite direction to the point of ensuring every experience is miserable. This is 100% that place. If you want to be subjected to unprofessional rude behavior EVERYTIME, then this is your Retina Clinic. Oh and if you want a diagnosis by someone other than a doctor. This is also your place. Make an appointment and you will see. I really couldn't believe it was always this way, so I used them 3 time before realizing this is how they do business. It's also worth noting that the level care you will receive is not much better than poor manners and rude behavior you will experience in the front office. read more

I have been a patient at the Retina Center for over 10 years. They have saved my eye sight when other providers could not. All 3 doctors are skilled, dedicated and care about their patients. The bad reviews are from MAGA followers that did not like the mandatory mask policy during COVID. read more

Have been here twice for retina problems. Each time have had the normal testing for retina related problems. But when it came time to see the Doctor you only have a short time with him and receive a short explanation of what the problem is. Very little of what to expect in the future. read more

Dr. Waterhouse and his staff were amazing when caring for my husband and his two retina tears. They even met us on a Sunday! I highly recommend him. Sincerely, Dawn Hollenbeck read more

I have been going to Dr. Waterhouse for a decade since my diagnosis of Macular Degeneration. He has not wavered in excellent treatment. He is so professional and knowledgeable. He answers my questions and gives me news on new developments in treatment. I have great confidence in him. His staff is so helpful and kind. I highly recommend the Retina Center. Grand Junction is lucky to have such skilled medical eye care. Thank you Retina Center! read more

I've had a good experience with Dr. Pollard regarding the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy. In addition, my interactions with the support staff were also pleasant. read more

unprofessional and unorganized and rushed after several appointments was told retina center was unable to do the procedure I needed

I have been going to Dr Harder for many years for treatment of a swollen vessel on the retina of my left eye. I go every 5 weeks and have had professional and excellent care from all staff and Dr Harder. I highly recommend The Retina Center and Dr Harder. read more

My Dad has seen them 2 times. The Dr stated that he needs to go to another facility to get a procedure done before they can do the procedure with them. My Dad has been to their office several times to get his file to take to the other facility. He was told that he could not have a copy of his file to hand carry over. So I called back to the Retina Center to try to help get things figured out. The first call they disconnected me so I called back. The second call they connected me to Susan who was extremely rude and said my Dad stuff was not an emergency so she would get to it when they can! Susan told me not to call back and they would send me a list of other facilities that can do what The Retina Center does! I would not recommend them for any procedure as they patients are not important to them! read more

I have seen Dr Harder several times and each time he has been rude and condescending. When asked for more information regarding my eye diagnosis his response was "You don't need to know that". I will not return to this office. read more

I had an unexpected, emergency retina issue. Not only did the Retina Center get me in as an emergency case, after a small communication issue, they have been fabulous!! Not going to lie, getting eye care at a strip mall took me back for a second, but the space is large and comfortable. My appt. was at 2:30 and I was in surgery at 6. Dr Waterhouse explained everything to me, answered all of my questions and the follow up care has been excellent. I have nothing but praise and love for the folks at the Retina Center. read more

My husband, a Vietnam veteran, suffered a traumatic eye injury and was referred to The Retina Center by the Veterans Hospital. He has been to the office on three occasions and each time the office staff have been extremely rude, condescending and disrespectful. The front office personnel literally yelled at my husband repeatedly on each occasion in front of everyone in the waiting room regarding the bill. They continually stated the hate the VA and accused my husband of not paying the bill. Finally on the third visit after again being yelled at and treated horribly a staff member found a "misfiled" payment statement and told my husband never-mind it was misfiled. Extremely upset my husband asked for an apology after being demeaned, embarrassed and harassed. She rolled her eyes at my husband and walked away. Dr Harder was informed of how badly my husband was treated and he ignored him and just said, well what about your eyes. The culture in this office is extremely toxic and they treat their patients/customers with condescension and disrespect. If they treat people who have sacrificed for their country in this manner how must they abusively treat all other patients? Horrible practice. Patients DESERVE to be treated with dignity and respect!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Harder for a couple of years and have absolute trust in him. My Macular Degeneration has stabilized under his care. I never have to wait too long in the waiting room. Front desk staff are nice. My only complaint is the billing office. My invoice did not show payments from insurance company or what I had paid. There was only a balance due. I couldn't get the bill explained. Very Frustrating. read more

I saw Dr. Harder several times and Dr. Waterhouse once in this office. Both men were unbelievably rude, condescending, insensitive and arrogant. I guess it's the trickle-down effect but even the staff are rude. When I moved here 6 months ago my previous doctor in Durango told me they were the only retina specialists available in G.J. and that I wouldn't like going there as they didn't treat patients well and he was right. There is now another doctor locally and I have switched to him and like him and his staff. I definitely would not recommend either doctor at The Retina Center. read more

Dr. Harder has been treating my mother for Macular Degeneration for several years now. I enjoy taking her on treatment days because the staff is friendly and efficient, there are rarely delays, and the injections are given by Dr. Harder in a friendly and professional manner. Best of all, because her care is tailored to her disease progression, which is closely monitored by Dr. Harder and his staff, she has retained her vision. read more
