It gave a pleasant feel. This is also the area you check-in at. The front-desk staff were very friendly and walked us through how to use our key cards and where things were located. The room looked like a dorm room, as expected, with bunk beds and lockers. We also had a private bathroom and shower, which I was pleasantly surprised about. We couldn't get the A/C to work, so we had to keep the windows cracked at all times. It would've been nice to be able to open the window completely for more airflow as it got stuffy/warm often. The beds are a place to sleep... don't expect much comfort. Loved the basement common areas! So much space and unique places to sit. It is also a bar at night with karaoke and lots of people mingling. Overall, it was a clean and fun hostel experience.

The Wombats at Budapest was 10 times better and that's the reason I chose to stay here, but I'm disappointed.

I take a seat and wait for server to come by and take my order. Fifteen minutes or so pass, and several servers walk past me. No one stopped to bring me a menu, or even acknowledge that I was waiting. Finally, I saw the same server and asked her was anybody going to come by to take my order. She told me that orders are to be placed at the bar. I asked her if the kitchen was still open, and she said that they also don't serve food. Jesus.... If patrons have to order their own cocktails, why are their servers present at all? Moreover, why isn't there any signage indicating to patrons that this establishment is both self-seating as well as self-service (well, placing your own order at the bar)?

Towels are rented for 2-3 Euros. 1/2 hr. international calls on a cell phone was rented for 2 Euros, and an hour on a rented laptop for 2.5 Euros. Codes are provided for the door into the general hostel area, and for the door to individual rooms. I was assured that if I wanted to do so, I could leave my luggage with staff during the day for security if desired, but that most people leave their belongings in their room, which was true; I did the same. It would be nice to have lockers, or similar, but my things were unmolested. I was in a 9-bunk room - stacked 3-high - with men & women. Noisy with bar noise from down below & from people in halls or coming/going at any hour day or night, but I read reviews in advance & anticipated that. Two baths with shower, toilet, mirror & 2 sinks each. Trash & cleaning well-maintained. Breakfast was hot water for tea, instant coffee, or hot cocoa, and bread to toast with butter & an assortment of jams & jellies that change. This was my first hostel experience, & I'm surprised to say that I really enjoyed Best Place! I'd go again in a heartbeat. This most recent time i staed there I was brutally attacked and assaulted by six people from this hostel. When I told them manager that I was uncomfortable staying there any longer and asked if I could get get transferred to the St christophers in 3 blocks down the street. But the manager on duty acted like I was lying about it when my face was already severely swolen and my eye was already starting to bruise over. She kept asking me why I didnt call the police and the paramedics. I told her that I did but she clearly acted like she didnt believe a word that I was saying.. the manager on duty made the whole thing so much more uncomfortable and acted like I was completely out of line transferring to a different st christophers inn because I no longer felt safe at the location that I was at. I did end up going to the hospital a few days later. I had a fractured cheek bone, a major concussion a cracked rib on one side and a broken rib on the left side of my body. (((Update))) St Christopher's inn at the villiage responded and keeps saying that the event allegedly happened, insinuating that im lying about the the whole incident. Which is exzacty what they did when I first came to them about the incident. This place is completely unsafe, Do not stay there!!! Instead of lifting a finger to do literally anything to make it right. This is how they treat the situation? Victim blaming and then insinuate that the victim is lying about the ordeal.

Buses go from close by, and Fulham Broadway tube station is about 10 minutes walk. Certainly not the best hostel I've been in, but you'll struggle to do better on a budget in London.

It's also walking distance to the brewery part of town. The staff are friendly and accommodating and I had a very positive experience. The hostel itself, as many noted, is very noisy. Despite wearing earplugs, I could hear and feel the vibrations of the music below. The rooms are a tight squeeze. The night we arrived I really needed sleep and it was pretty loud and smoke was coming in through the open window. Closing it made it muggy and hot. The next night I just decided if you can't beat them, join them! And joined the people downstairs. It was fun! Would be hard to stay a long while and don't recommend for light sleepers.

The last night I was there she was so drunk she moved from bed to bed on fresh covers only just changed. Those sheets/duvets cost the hostel money to clean, so I reported her moving around to unassigned racks. Instead of being happy I had their back, the front desk put into the notes on MY name that I was a problem and that I had done that! I did not know it until today when I tried to book a stay this July. The Operations Manager told me he could do nothing to remove the wrongful accusations against me. He could rent a private room but not the more affordable dorm bed. The music in the pub is so loud now, it's like St. Christoper's Inn--it's all party and no comfort now. This place has rapidly descended into to a miserable place to rent a dorm bed.
