She was supposed to call for help to go to the bathroom but she would give up waiting and then would sit on the toilet and no one would come to help her. They would bring her food and walk away KNOWING she needed help. She needed things opened and her food cut up. She fell 3 times there. I walked in Wednesday at 3 and found her in the dining room in a recliner slumped over with my just a T-shirt and no blanket. I don't know how long she was sitting there but after an hour I asked at the front desk who her aide was. No one would tell me. Every time I approached the nurse supervisor she wouldn't even look up at me. She would just sit there and wasn't really doing anything that she could give me a minute and give me the information I asked for. So when I wasn't told who her aide was I got her blanket and sweatshirt. Her legs were ice cold and I fed her. Then I asked that someone take her back to her room. I waited a half hour. She got cleaned up, I put her pajamas on and the side and I put her in bed. The aide left and my sister was trying to get out of bed. She was flailing her arms. I pushed the call button, no one came then I pushed again. A young man came and I told him I can't go home until someone makes sure she doesn't get out of bed and fall AGAIN. He left and no one came so I put her legs back in bed and turned out the lights hoping she would stay. She rolled on her side and I kissed her goodnight. Here's the very sad upsetting part. We learned her behavior was classic symptoms of death very soon. We were told we would be told when it was happening so we could be with her. We promised her she wouldn't be alone. SOMEONE there should have recognized the signs and told me I should stay. She died alone around 8 am. This is UNACCEPTABLE AND INFURIATING!! NO COMPASSION AND THEY DON'T CARE about the residents or the family. THIS is emotional trauma. No smiles, no hello and taking and giving care is a bother. Shameful!!! I witnessed an aide push a elderly man back in his chair and yell at him. She wasn't watching him and ran back when she hear another resident yell he was trying to get out of the recliner. We were told they are not allowed to restrain or stop anyone so what's up with that man being pushed back??? My sister did not want to be there and I saw firsthand WHY!! It breaks my heart you have a lack of caring nurses and aides.

There is always something; they leave him lying flat when they take his food in his room and then say (we can't make him sit up)... but you also can't leave him eating if it's unsafe. They leave his dirty diapers lying on the floor in the room; he is bed-bound and can't walk, so he isn't doing it himself. As others have stated, the call bell is pointless because they ignore you, or it's somewhere that it can't be reached. They take weeks to do haircuts, and they don't clean the rooms. They don't even change the Pee pads. I have so much evidence against this place; it's not somewhere you want your family to be. They don't take care of their residents/patients.

I have been struggling since my discharge to prove them WRONG. The rehab staff were capable but demoted me from a cane to a rollator and occasional transport wheelchair. What I NEEDED was to see a REAL doctor (not an NP) about hip replacement. As far as CARDIAC CARE? Fergetaboutit. Within the first week I was informed that whatever care I needed the staff there could provide. The first real medical care I received was an xray of my left pinkie which had developed a lump. That was after THREE MONTHS of my imprisonment. I once had to wait 72 hours for the ONE NP on staff to see me about a UTI (((waves at Jackie))). On life-sustaining, routine maintenance... The food and diet is comparable to what they are serving in PRISONS. I lost 40 pounds in 4 months. Oh yes I also lost a tooth, developed SCURVY. One day, along with my dinner, I was served a LIVE ROACH on my tray. And oh yes, I have photos. Staff, beyond rehab therapists and 3 RNs PER FLOOR, are all rent-an-aids from an agency. They rarely return, even more rarely WORK, do not speak English but when they do are surly and rude. My fellow inmates, with a few shining exceptions, will give you nightmares. There were at least two gentlemen wearing court-ordered ankle monitors. Another invaded my room (oops! wrong room!) and I was so traumatized I could not speak - except to croak to Claudine RN "I don't belong here". To sum it up. Do not send your loved ones to Norriton Square Nursing and Rehab, 1700 Pine Street, Norristown. You will be disinherited or haunted! PS - the whole place smells like feces

Bad experience for my 88 year old dad who came here after broken femur surgery. The nurses would…read morenot give me the attending physician schedule or his phone number. They said they would have the doctor call me. Never got a call. My dad got progressively worse every day. Finally my dad told us they told him he had very low red blood cell count. Nobody told us, but we knew something was not right. After 4 days they called an ambulance to take him back to the hospital. Red blood cell count was critically low. He will not be going back there ever again.

Maybe Medicare rules changed but the first time there was much better communication about objectives before discharge and clear evidence of achieving these milestones. In the most recent visit there was not the level of communication and we did not get a clear understanding of the process goals to meet prior to discharge. In addition the food menus were drastically different with the same limited choices daily. Our objection is with Senior Staff and her incomplete stay. She was not prepared for discharge and fell multiple times in first several days home. Now instead of having acute care covered by Medicare we have had to hire a nursing aide at a whopping $390 per week as we do not qualify for Medicaid.

I like that they show you the exercises and then there's autonomy to do them as well. She is always there to help and point out if my form is off. I know PT is not where people want to be, but the PT/PTA's there are passionate about what they do and are there to help and provide guidance in anyway they can. Scheduling appointments is a breeze. They text and email you the day before and are flexible if you need to adjust your appointments, within reason of course.
