Asbestos ceiling tiles were being cut overhead with exact-o knife with no gloves, masks, or vapour barrier installed to protect the rest of the facility or our employees actively working in it. Very scary for a business that deals with hazardous substances and human safety. Do not risk your safety.

Imperial Restoration was hired to perform work in our building, and their execution has been…read morecompletely unacceptable. While cutting open a structural wall cavity, the crew utilized zero dust containment or localized engineering protection. They pulverized drywall and disturbed building-core fiberglass insulation, allowing heavy, hazardous industrial particulates to flood directly into a clean, occupied residential unit. To add to this complete lack of property care, crew members didn't even bother to remove their outdoor shoes or wear basic shoe protectors, tracking debris straight into our clean living space. Worse yet, the crew abruptly walked off the job and abandoned the site overnight, leaving a massive, contaminated structural hole completely uncontained and wide open inside a minor child's bedroom. The volume of airborne fiberglass and respirable dust has rendered the bedroom completely unlivable. Neither the crew nor their management has taken immediate action to properly remediate this hazardous exposure. Leaving an active, airborne contaminant breach unsecured overnight in a family home is a severe breach of professional standards and basic safety protocols. Avoid this company if you value competent property protection and site containment.

At the same time, I had noticed some missing mortar in the brick on the outside of the house and a broken gutter - meaning water was dripping down the side of the house and likely entering the walls. I was convinced we had mold and envisioned our whole bedroom being torn apart. After searching online, I came across this company which had good reviews so gave it a ring. I was impressed from the second Angelina stepped foot in my door. You know when you see Mike Holmes walk into some poor soul's house on his show and you know he's going to fix things? That's how I felt - she was going to save the day. And that's what she did. Long story short, she did her thing using equipment which can detect the presence of mold without making a single hole. She also checked other parts of the house to ensure she had the whole picture. She wasn't convinced it was mold. Surely enough within 24 hours or so, we received the "Indoor Air Quality (Mold) Testing & Investigation Report" via email confirming her suspicion. Turns out our old house with its plaster walls saved the day. Yes water had come in, and yes that was the cause of the odor, but because it was plaster, all we needed to do was dry it out and get out mortar and gutter fixed. (If it had been dry wall, we would have been screwed.) In the following days, Angelina offered recommendations on getting rid of the odor and responded promptly to any other questions I had. She even offered to help me rent an "air scrubber" if we continued to smell the must. Thankfully it wasn't needed. The price was very decent. If I recall, it was in the $350 range when all was said and done.
