The decor did not disappoint on that count! The owner was super sweet and funny, and found a Bigfoot baseball cap for her while promising to get some more swag purchased soon. She had actual breakfast and gave it an A--scrambled eggs, pork sausage, hash browns with cheese (had to get some cheese in there somewhere). I'm not nearly as big a fan of traditional breakfast and I hadn't had my tenderloin fix on this trip yet. Bigfoot Betty's fit the bill. French fries were delicious too and the fresh veggie add-ons. Ain't no tenderloin like an Iowa tenderloin.

However, things quickly went downhill. We were told they were out of funnel cake fries....which, okay, that happens, but then also out of fried pickles? That started to feel a bit questionable. While sitting there, we kept overhearing staff apologizing and saying they were understaffed. I understand that staffing issues happen, but good management should adjust accordingly by limiting capacity, reducing hours, or temporarily closing, rather than letting service suffer this badly. We arrived around 12:50, ordered at 1:00, and didn't get our appetizer until 1:50. Our main food didn't come out until after 2:00. That kind of wait is just not reasonable. To make matters worse, my tenderloin bun was extremely soggy and the food overall was very greasy. If you're going for a tenderloin, you're honestly better off heading to Starbecks, Cindy Lou's, or King Bucks. Great vibe and kind staff, but the long wait times, lack of menu items, and disappointing food quality made for a frustrating experience overall. And let me tell you this..... 2 kids meals, 2 adult meals, and 1 appetizer was $80 DOLLARS BEFORE TIP... I get that things in this world are expensive, but we can go to Sakura Japanese Steak House and get hibachi and sushi and feed the family for about the same cost.

BEWARE: Wilbo's Burgers Brats & Beers adds an extra 15% fee on all carryout orders...and worse, it…read moreis added AFTER tax! I placed a phone order and was quoted a total based on food + tax. No mention of the carryout surcharge. When I showed up, I learned that the final total included an extra 15% without warning. The way it is calculated is: Items + Tax = Subtotal. Subtotal + 15% Surcharge = what you ACTUALLY pay. When I confronted them about this, the manager stated that it was "to help the chefs in the back." To which I responded: "Maybe you should pay your employees what they deserve instead of dumping your responsibilities onto your customers." The issue isn't just that a surcharge was added, though I still find it unreasonable, but that it was never mentioned beforehand. It felt intentionally hidden and was added without any disclosure, which comes off as really sneaky and unprofessional. We had the Wilbo Combo, Build Your Own Burger, and The Spicy One Brat. The food was decent, but the business practices were extremely disappointing. Overall: I do NOT recommend coming here! I will NOT be coming back here!

American Four of us…read morewere working in the area and wanted a decent dinner so we headed over to Whiskey Road. The place was medium full- that is to say, it was not totally jam packed. We got a table with no issue. Waitress arrived with and we got started with some drinks and apps. Honey garlic edamame was different and very good, queso dip was standard fare. For cocktails, we were all over the place: beers, wine and one guy had some whiskey. Frankly, I forgot what the others had but I ended up with a steak, which was fine. A second round of drinks and we were pretty much done with dinner - but we still had a decent amount of drinks left- and that is sort of when we started feeling rushed by the waitress. She asked a few times while we still had our entrees "if we wanted anything else" - which we felt was odd - it did not come across like "are you satisfied", it was more like do you want the bill? Weird vibe. We discussed it among ourselves that maybe she needed to get out and we were her last table but she came round again asking if we wanted the check and my buddy asked her is she was heading out and actually said no- she was there for a few hours more... so the whole thing was perplexing. Anyway, food was good- prices were average. Service was interesting. Maybe your experience will be better. Street parking

The flatbread is huge--at least two meals' worth--as are the salads. Beer's available in full pours, half pours, and flights, so it's easy to sample a few in one sitting. And don't miss the specials--especially inventive soups. There's plenty of seating options, too--a nice patio, bar stools, and a couple rooms full of tables and booths. Cheers!

There is ample space inside and out, and it's all very open and clean, though the inside dining areas are separated into large rooms, which I think would help with noise control when it's busy. We visited around 7:45 on a Friday evening in August and found it remarkably not crowded, but they have another location in Cedar Falls that probably draws a larger crowd. We were at the Waterloo location, which probably caters to a lot of business people and business travelers during the week. We ordered a lot of food for two people, and it was all excellent, but I rate this cool place four stars because all the food came out of the kitchen at once and we were totally overwhelmed. If it had been paced, I think we could have pulled it off, and as travelers, we couldn't really take leftovers with us to have another day. Our server was extremely helpful and patient helping me understand their beverage selections. I enjoy a good cocktail or a glass of good wine, but my beer tastes are even more limited, but SingleSpeed offered up the perfect solution: the SingleSpeed-a-rita. This is made with their Ring Around the Gose, tequila, agave, and lime juice. That hit the spot on a hot Friday night in Iowa!
