If you want a fancy place to eat, do not go there ! If you want a great selection of fish and a friendly helpful service, this is the place to go ! One does have to get used to the area and building but the food was great ! Walk right in ! You will not be disappointed ! read more

This was the best! We walk in and take a seat. A woman sitting alone at the table next to us says, do you know what you're gonna get? I tell her it's my first time. She says you picked a great day to come here. On Fridays they have but all you can eat walleye special. I am telling you it, was some serious eats! Nice and crispy with crispy meaty fries. And the pea salad with cheese and finely grated onions and a bit of sweetness! Heaven! The pasta salad was made with a hearty pasta, and it was delicious too. Service was quick. The server was hustling so much! I asked him if he owned the place and he told me that his brother did. You need to know that it's cash only... But it is so worth it. Run, don't walk! read more

Good prices and we loved the food. They have quite a nice selection on the menu. Not at all fancy but friendly staff and delicious food. If you like fish, you definitely need to check this place out. Just remember that they only accept cash as payment. You can also buy fish by the pound, either cooked or raw. Will definitely be going back. read more

Another great find from Yelp. Love these family-owns and operated restaurants whether I'm home in Minneapolis or traveling to places near and far. Nothing fancy here but not a dump either. Dark interior mostly because of a lack of windows. You can buy a variety of fresh fish at a deli counter, take some fried fish to go, or eat in. We ate in. Service friendly but not at all over bearing. Food came quickly and was piping hot -- perfect. Nicely fried with little breaking. Generous bowl of yummy potato salad. Small portion of pedestrian fries. Cost for all you can eat fried walleye dinner was only $10.95. Excellent value. read more

One of the best places to get lunch in waterloo. It seems to be under new management but the food is still pretty much the same except the baked beans are in quite As sweet. The perch sandwich wa as still great as always. read more

I have to say when this young man first took over his food was great the best that's been in a long time now there's something changed about it it's like he don't change the grease enough it's greasy it tastes bad it's just not the same I don't know if it's cost them too much money to change the grease or what the deal is but at this point we are not going to eat there no more. read more

I came here after being recommended by a coworker and having a craving for fresh fried fish. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. The interior was not modern but some of the best places tend to focus more on the food. Customer service was great and helped me with ordering since it was my first time. I got the walleye basket with fries and hot sauce. The walleye was hot and the breading was crispy and delicious. They gave me a ton of hot sauce, my only very minor complaint is that I wish the ketchup for the fries was in cup and not packer form for easy dipping. Great fish in the cedar valley- hence the name! read more

Cedar Valley Fish Market - Walleye basket, tastes as good as it looks! - Restaurants Near Me - Waterloo, Iowa

An absolute hidden gem in Waterloo. Heard about through word of mouth and took visit. Like a previous review its in an old part of town but a true gem. They have all you can eat fish fry fri/ sat night. We got a pound of walleye to go and it was awesome! New favorite seafood place in the valley. Also very reasonable prices just bring cash. read more

Cedar Valley Fish Market - the front of the building - Restaurants Near Me - Waterloo, Iowa

My whole family loves this place. It may be out of the way, and not fancy, but it has some of the best fried fish. I make it a point to stop in every time I'm back in Waterloo. Originally, Waterloo had a fish market that my family visited since before I was born.As the city underwent development, the fish market went out of business. We thought the it was lost. This establishment resurrected the old business and is just add tasty as the original! I think they are using the same seasonings. It is a great place to stop for good meal. read more

Always amazing and very cheap. locally owned and operated. Great lady runs the place remembers me when if I haven't been there in a year. Try the baked beans they are homemade It's in a sketchy part of town but your good during the day read more

The decor may not be the best but for the price I'll take the outdated decor any day. They do not take debit card just cash. We will always love the food here... but when their sign says closing at 8pm... don't come in at 7pm because she will be upset you're there at closing time and refuse to give you their all deal of all you can eat walleye because they are "closing." We have never felt so awkward at a resturant in our lives! read more

Driving to the place, you may wonder if you really should be going here. Next to an abandoned meat-packing plant and not in the greatest part of town. Step in and you will not see much for updated decor but it appears to be clean enough. Atmosphere... Uh..no. Service? There's likely not many people there and the best way to explain it is efficient. Price... Looking good, but be sure to bring some cash since plastic isn't accepted. Finally the food. It's pretty good and the wide array of offerings of fish is impressive. Felt like I was at a real fish fry. If you're looking for the real deal fish, this is the place to be. read more

I LOVE this place! Not only do they have all-you-can-eat walleye on Fridays, the service is friendly, homey and fast. They also sell a great selection of local fish and delivered fresh seafood that we don't often see around here otherwise. The owner is a treasure! The place may not be exactly "elegant", but it is a fish market. read more

Really good fish and good sides. Although the calimari was not even near being fresh, I will definitely be returning to this restaurant for the fish. read more

I am a big fan of supporting local business so I was excited to introduce my friends from out of town to this establishment. We arrived on a Saturday night around 7:15 pm. It was posted on the door that hours were until 8 pm. There were 6 in our party. The woman who saw us come in immediately informed us that she was closing at 8 pm and the all you can eat fish was not an option because of the time. Staggered by her lack of warm welcome, I let her know that we could take our business elsewhere if she wasn't interested in serving us. She then changed her tune and went on to help us. The meal was ok and the service wasn't terrible. We spent over $100 there in 45 minutes. Most restaurants will help someone who arrives 30 minutes prior to closing time with no limitations. It's unfortunate this was our first experience with this restaurant. I would suggest expanding business hours on weekends to better accommodate a supper crowd. The $100 made was $100 more than they would have, if we had turned around and walked out the door. Bad first impression for 6 people who could have been returning customers. read more
