Bo Jacobsen - An incompetent swindler
This is the first and hopefully last restaurant review I'll write. It's mainly about a petty, premeditated swindle. I should emphasize that the rest of the restaurant's personnel has always acted in a friendly, professional manner.
A little over a month ago I was at Restaurationen and I asked if it was possible to get butter with the bread. Lisbeth Jacobsen replied, "Anything is possible." A few minutes later I returned to her answer and mentioned a lobster dish I had eaten once when I was a child. I asked if it might be possible to get that dish as a special order and offered to send a recipe from a classical American cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I sent an email with a link to the book and and Lisbeth answered that making lobster thermidor would not be a problem and that it would cost kr. 700. We agreed on a date and Bo Jacobsen booked a table and wrote that they would be ready with "lobster thermidor for you."
Bo Jacobsen served the dish and called it lobster thermidor, but the dish he served had nothing in common with the classical dish. It was a plain boiled lobster covered with a reddish sauce.
I wasn't in the mood for a conflict, so I didn't complain and made the best of a bad situation. Now I can declare that Bo Jacobsen is a swindler and a liar. Moreover, it takes a good amount of stupidity to do what he did with a "paper trail" of emails behind him. A reasonably intelligent person would have weighed the potential risks. Apparently, Bo Jacobsen's concept of risk is limited to an inflated view of what he can get away with, and that says quite a lot.
What Bo Jacobsen did wasn't a mistake or an accident. It was a deliberate swindle. If you value honesty and integrity, I urge you to stay away from Restaurationen. read more
