I originally came to Barcelos for the market. After wandering around on the streets around lunchtime, I stumbled upon Três Marias. A small bird outside sang a song and welcomed me in (a family pet I assume) and ever since that day, I have been greeted with warmth, love, and always an amazing home cooked meal.
Just plan to get the prato do dia, often there are a few choices. This has been one of the best ways I get to try traditional Portuguese dishes. Their frango (chicken) is my favorite and they giggle every time I make my way in because I always ask for the frango. Everything you get here will be tasty and cooked with love.
The dining area is sweet and makes you feel like you are cozy in a home with all your neighbors. Bring your cash, no card.
My heart bursts for this family restaurant and the family that owns it. You might even get to meet everyone.
