I had some tapas, which were all seasoned amazingly. As a main dish I shared a seafood platter, again really tasty and of good quality. They gave us little refreshers through meals that were on the house, such as shots of gazpacho and mango sorbet and liquor for the grownups at the end of our dining. 10/10, would recommend.

We were served by David, who was very patient with us trying out our very limited Spanish vocab skills. He was constantly smiling and didn't seem to resent speaking to us in English. We ordered a variety of tapas between 4 of us, including flavoursome anchovies, super-fresh calamari, a local octopus stew and some very brave patatas bravas! We particularly enjoyed the albondigas (scrumptious meatballs) and the capresi salad, ordering two portions of each. I have given them 5 stars because the food is always good, but I sometimes question the value for money. By way of an example, the Cafe Latitude in Denia offers better value. Don't be fooled by the fish restaurants on the front. They are not what you see is what you get. Most of the staff at the Baydal have worked there for donkey's years. There English isn't great, but you can get your order across. Do try some Spanish, it is appreciated, even if only get the kids to say "Gracias". I can recommend the sole meunière.
