Do not get tempted by the other grilled fish. It will arrive with potatoes and boiled kale, and somewhere between the first bite and the third potato, you'll wonder where your appetite went.
Just order the grilled sardines, a bottle of Muros Antigos Alvarinho 2025, and call it a day. You can add some olives, peppers, and their soft cheese while you wait, because the sardines take a little time to make--and these are actually good for nibbling on.
The ambiance? Meh.
The service? Also meh.
The flies? Very much not meh.
You'll find yourself staring at them, contemplating whether a fly swatter should be considered an essential part of the table setting. They're annoying, but there's only so much you can do. Consider it part of the experience.
But the sardines? Excellent. Charred, simple, and exactly what you should be there for.
