So this is one of the very top restaurants in Madrid with a dinner waitlist extending out 3 mos. Through friends of the brothers that own it, we got a Friday lunch table (13:00-16:30). A short lunch it was as we skipped desert. This is an Argentina meat place with an amazing wine menu to match.
I was exactly the second person that does not eat meat that has come here. The King of Spain was the other one a bit ago (so the owners told me). In both cases they went to the market, sourced some outstanding fish/seafood vegetables . Obviously the others in my party were carnivores which is what the place is known for and of course which i cannot comment on other than to say 'best' and 'again' were mentioned.
Service outstanding on both the wine side and the food side. I don't know Argentina (or Spanish) wine was a great recommendation when i indicated my French go tos. A Cheval Blanc des Andes came out and yes, it's what you think with the heritage . Mainly Argentina Malbec but with some cab sav and i think petit Verdot from original sources French vines.
They did a few courses for me, mushrooms in a crème sauce, some grilled squid, the Argentinan fire roasted corn you see below, and some hake hat was probably the best prepared hake i have had. Did i mention that this is a meat place. I really appreciated them making outstanding food for an exception like me. I guess they did the same for the King.
