At the end of our meal, Eladio offered us, gratis, a choice of tawny port or the local apple digestivo. Excellent restaurant, food, service and atmosphere.

It was a multi course meal and everything's good from starter soup to dessert. Nice intimate atmosphere, courteous service. They will make eggs to order but you'll have to ask as it doesn't seem to be something they promote.

What a terrible experience :(…read more We had been here before for a wine tasting and lunch and we had some family in town and decided to book again. We booked for 4 people and then when they emailed us back confirmation we saw that children were not allowed. So we called to change the booking from 4 people to 2 people so that myself and my wife could take our son to the nearby park. They refused to change it even though it had only been 30 minutes since we made the booking. They spent 10 minutes telling us they could not change the booking and instead offering to have us pay full price for our child to come. My wife was on the phone with them for 10 minutes and then I tried to talk to them and lost my temper due to the poor service. I am sorry I lost my temper. The hostess was quite dismissive and unhelpful. We were going to bring 5 people to your restaurant for lunch and just needed to change from 4 people to 2 people for the wine tasting after since you don't allow kids (which you only told us after we paid and booked). There are far friendlier and better places in the Douro river valley that do a better job. We will never come to this restaurant and winery again. Ben

English a bit off but I appreciate that he is really trying. A lot better than my Portuguese. The fish steak was so so. It had good flavoring but I really wanted a more quality fish. I like that I was able to add a salad. I had a delicious coffee and pineapple soda which the waiter thought it was a sparkling drink as a translation. Somewhat similar but not quite the same. Coffee was very on-point and Porto Wine cake had a homey feel and was satisfyingly tasteful. I declined the bread since there is bread everywhere and I don't want too many carbohydrates. It probably cost extra. I tried to confirm with the waiter but I don't think he understood this nuance. He was also serving so many people with only one other person and this person was naturally better at serving more people at once than the other person but they both seemed very kind. On my way back to the hotel, I noticed a Quinta Da Foz and I wonder if these places are connected. Cais Da Foz did offer wine as an option.

That being said the portion sizes were small like A Michelin restaurant, The seafood stew was not what I was expecting but tasted fabulous. Our table also got the veal dish, octopus and sea bass and all were tasty but small, the desserts were out of this world and the wine sublime. Great place for lunch between wine tastings!

THE BLACK AND WHITE: We were feeling hungry after our Duoro boat tour and found this restaurant as we were walking. It serves traditional Portuguese cuisine. We came just before they closed their doors and caught the chefs eating their lunch. We ordered the lambchops to share. The food came out pretty quickly (~10 minutes). Great flavors with olive oil and the stewed veggies. However the lamb was very gamey to me which was offputting. Fortunately there were port shops nearby to wash out the gamey flavors. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For the lambchop dish, it was 14 euros. Very reasonable prices and I would come back to try some other dishes.

Turns out it's a sister restaurant to another spot in a nearby village up in the hi We visited for lunch in late September when the grapes were ripe and the hills of the Douro were starting to change colors. As we were with a local guide, we just let him order some food for us. We started by sharing some small plates of local cheeses, olives and bread with olive oil. Next we had some local sausages then for the main split a pork shank that was smoked and roasted for 4 hours and was falling apart. We enjoyed a couple of wines with the meal and before we could leave the manager insisted of giving us a taste of 10-Year port.
