Cuddle fish was amazing fried with a great crispy outer coating and a tender moist tasty intercenter.. it came with tasty fresh vinaigrette side salad. We also ordered a bowl of vegetable soup and fish soup and was very happily surprised. Both were a cream based. I think I like the vegetable soup better .We had bread and butter served to us along with other tapas such as tuna that was so good. We asked if we could have another little bowl. The food is good here. I tried the octopus rice and it was very interesting but not quite my type of food. It was a really wet, almost soup-like, rice dish with bits of octopus. It wasn't bad but to eat a whole bowl was too monotonous. The dish that I did like was the grilled lamb. The spices were super flavorful and I highly recommend this dish if you enjoy lamb. The owner was very nice. It was my birthday and my husband wanted to surprise me with a dessert. They didn't have cake but the owner went to a nearby bakery to buy me a piece of cake. The outdoor seating gives this restaurant five stars. It is adjacent to a dam in the river, so the sound of rushing water covers the road noise. The food was good, the service was attentive. Prices are reasonable. read more

Set in a beautiful place overlooking the picturesque Tomar river, the Bela Vista promised much. We were welcomed to our table and the ambience was fine, but the food was a significant disappointment. The waiter was eager to please, however he didn't understand basic concepts such as the difference between vegetables and a salad, and between fried and grilled steak. The servings were a good size, but the overall quality was not of a great standard. The wines however were very good and reasonable, considering the quality. If you like simple, basic food then consider the Bela Vista. read more
