This place was highly recommended by my hotel for traditional Portuguese food.
I don't normally accept the appetizers restaurants try to push on patrons in Portugal (and charge for it), but this place had a couple of interesting items - and the bread was excellent!
So I got the mushrooms bras style and the black pig tusks. Wow!
The mushrooms bras style was a mix of shredded potatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, and mushrooms with olives and cherry tomatoes... and it was to die for!!!
The black pig tusks were cooked to perfection and the sweet fresh apple sauce and grilled pineapple added a soft brightness to the savory dish. The pig tusks came with "fries" which were actually homemade potato chips - and they were better than any other potato chips I've had commercially!
Chef stopped by my table and mentioned that he felt his chili was one of his best dishes - well sign me up! It came out piping hot with a side of rice, so I thought: "when in Rome!" It was a deliciously unique compliment! The chili was great as a stand-alone with: beans, corn, sweet peppers, onions and zucchini... just wonderful...!
And finally - dessert: "carrot cake" but nothing like you've ever had before... it didn't look like carrot cake... it didn't taste like carrot cake....!! It was so good...!
The staff seems to genuinely care about everyone's experience and the chef would personally work the room as time permitted. I'm pretty sure the entire family was working on the night I dined here. Just a classy experience all the way around! read more
