I wish you could give it 6 stars. This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Top of line all…read morethe way around. And the views... Oh my gosh... The views! The check in and check out procedure is so personal. They sit you down and treat you as one on one. Unlike anything I have ever experienced. Upon checkout, they give you a small parting gift too. The dinner was fantastic albeit small portions but 8 courses! The cheese bar is out of this world with 20-30 different cheeses. You can also get cheese to go if you want. As much as you want. They have a neat little cigar bar with Cubans of course. The breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic with plenty to eat. Oddly, we never got to the spa or pools but we did check them out. Next time... If there is a next time.

Just came back from a stay at Lenkerhof. For sure it was a highlight. A great way to end a long…read morevacation to relax and unwind before heading back home. The town of Lenk is very small but oh so beautiful! Very fortunate the weather was clear and warm compared to the rest of my rainy and grey trip. It is a journey to get to the resort. I was coming from Salzburg which was about an 8hr journey. If you're coming from Zurich it's about 2.5 hrs and if you're coming from Bern it's about 1.5hrs, all by train. Long story short, since I was coming from Salzburg the journey took longer than expected and we didn't check in till about 21.30. We were so tired and hungry when checking in they could sense how exhausted we looked and they called the restaurant to see if they would stay open for us and they said yes! We immediately went to eat and the servers never rushed us and they treated us so well. I was very grateful they stayed open late for us. Tips/Comments: The website, at least for me, was very difficult to get information on what was included in my booking. Friends were the ones who told me about this place and I just mimicked the same packaged they got. So when we arrived I felt like such a cheapo asking if this and that was included b/c i just didn't know. So with the gourmet package dinner AND breakfast is included. Couldn't find a place on site to eat lunch except for in the Sauna they have this vegan broth that provided some substance. Also the contents in your mini fridge are included as well (thank god!). It was the first and only part of our trip where we had free water. Speaking of which, note that most of Europe's drinking water comes from Switzerland so drinking the water from tap is completely ok, even at the airport. When you're at the fancy dinner you can ask for free tap water as well. You also get a city card that lasts the duration of your stay. Highly recommend taking the lifts up to the top (about a 20minute ride) and the views are worth it. If you ever wonder why the town seems empty or quite it's because everyone is on that mountain hiking down. And let's not forget the sulphur pools and sauna. The pool is wonderful and just note that the Sauna's are nude. I get nude is totally an ok thing for Europeans but I'm sorry, my American-ness just couldn't strip down. They do provide a thin towel that I wore to cover up while i was in the sauna, just don't expect anyone else to do the same. Also, don't talk in the saunas. You will get scolded. Last but not least, if you decide to go into town and eat food off site its is VERY expensive. My lunch of a soup, salad, and coke was 38 swiss franks. 0_0

This was my first time staying in a Reka! Each one has different specialties. We watched several…read moreYouTube videoes of each Reka and picked Lenk because of the location and the cool spielestrasse (translated as play street). There are large buildings with apartments inside. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms, one with 2 twin beds pushed together and a crib, and the second room with bunk beds and a twin bed. There is a large room with a small kitchen, dining table and then living room with another bed that doubles as a sofa (it's got a hard back which is kinda weird, and 2 arm chairs. We were on the ground floor but still have a patio with table and chairs. You book the Reka from a Saturday to a Saturday. We arrived at 6 pm, and then reception had closed. But there was an envelope on the counter with paperwork and key. At 6:30 they had a meeting to explain about the Reka. We had gone to the apartment and my husband started reading and said, Quick! We need to go back they are having a meeting to explain everything! There is a whole schedule of activities that they give you when you arrive. Most of the written material is in German. There are signs that are sometimes in French. We have heard other people speaking French, Swiss and German. We have two boys ages 3 and 6 years old. One of the greatest activities that is included in the price is a kids club (Rekalino). Every morning from 8:45 am to 11:45 you can drop off the kids at the kids club. There are also 2 hours in the afternoon you can do this too usually with a special craft. The time seems to vary a little in the afternoon. On Tuesday you could leave the kids from 8:45 to 3 pm. You could pay extra to have the kids stay for lunch and eat pizza. My husband asked if we could provide a lunch (one of our kids doesn't like pizza) and she said it was fine. So we were able to do a long hike by ourselves! It didn't seem that they took the kids outside was was a shame because the playground was only a few feet away. It was usually only one adult female, and for the first 3 days it was a different woman. So each time my husband to to explain that our kids understand Swiss but speak back in English. Only one out of the 3 ladies said she spoke English. It's not a big deal to us because we wanted our kids to speak Swiss. However, if you were only an English speaker this might be difficult. I wouldn't let it deter you though, it's such an amazing program to be able to leave your kids for a couple of hours and go hiking! There is an indoor pool, goats, playground, and of course the spielstrasse which the kids LOVED! Perfect for our kids ages. We saw some older kids there and they seemed to like the pool and the trampoline. We borrowed some board games too. There were all kinds of bikes to rent, which we ended up not renting. We often went on hikes. There is a special pass to get where you only pay one price and then can ride all the gondolas all week. It was confusing at first but my husband asked about it. I should add about the apartment, ours was in Rittersporn on the ground floor. If you want more of a view get an upper floor apartment. If you want a clear view of the mountains and the sunset, then Rapunzel or Aurikel would be better. We liked the ground floor because we would sit outside to eat dinner and then after the kids would play on the grass or this rope merry go round thing.
