After seeing the menu listed outside the restaurant, we had planned in getting a quick bite before heading back to our hotel. Once we were seated inside however, we saw that their menu stated that if you do not order off one of their set menus, there is a minimum of 2 food items per customer required. Their budget set menu is a 3 course menu for 35CHF, which would be cheaper than getting any other 2 items on the menu so we opted for that even though we were that hungry. The waitress insisted that it was a very very good deal (I guess in Switzerland that is a very decent price IMO). I ordered the cannelloni bolognese, and my husband ordered the wild boar ragout (he likes trying new things). After flying from California and taking the 4 hour train ride from Geneva we were so dehydrated so just ordered still water to drink. The waitress was very nice and very friendly. She made sure to tell me the bolognese is spicy and asked if that was ok. I said yes, and she asked if I was sure maybe 3 times. About 5 minutes after I ordered, she came back to our table and asked if I was ok if we changed my order to lasagna bolognese which is "the same thing but just a different pasta". I said of course that's not a problem (but I don't consider them the same...?). The salads came out, and the plating was beautiful. Not too special of a dinner salad but man whatever chilis the chef put in that salad was ridiculously spicy!! My mouth was on fire. Weird the waitress didn't warn us about how hot the salad would be, it made me nervous how spicy my pasta would be! (The table next to us sent back their salad since it was too spicy). While we ate our salads, the chef came by the table to see how we're doing, and told me instead of the lasagna bolognese he was currently making a spicy vegetable lasagna, and asked if that's ok. No big deal. Our entrees came out quickly after that. My lasagna was decent (white sauce...didn't expect that) and not spicy at all. I was surprised the vegetables included cauliflower...have ever had that in a lasagna before. And man there Was so much cheese!! Both our entrees has a lot of cheese. Husband's wild boar was tough, and the pasta and sauce it came with was just meh. Both dishes were very filling and we weren't able to finish either. Dessert was a chocolate mousse on an open face croissant and topped with whipped cream. Tasty but not special. After all this the meal costed us 78CHF. Since VAT and service is included that meant our water bottle was 8CHF?? I guess considering this is Switzerland I didn't expect dinner to be cheap. But I did feel underwhelmed by the meal. There aren't many other options in the area, and the grocery store is not open on Sundays for us to cook our own meal. I'd say if you find other options, this restaurant is passable.

We were picked up at the train station by the little electric buses that are all over Zermatt and brought to the hotel. From the street you see all the carved wood that is all over the hotel. It's beautiful and pictures don't do it justice. Monica was at the front desk with welcome drinks. It was a type of sparkling cider. She gave us our keys and sat down with us and showed us a map of the area and places to check out. She wrote it all down for us and offered to make reservations for us. We made it to our room and it was covered with the same carved wood. We opened the balcony doors and was surprised with an epic view of the Matterhorn. Yay! Breakfast came with our room so the next day we went downstairs and enjoyed a buffet style breakfast with a few items you can order from the menu. The waitress was just the sweetest thing. I'm sorry I can't recall her name but she was just so kind. They do two services in the room. The first is the normal cleaning every hotel offers and the second one is the turn down service complete with chocolate. :) Every day from 3-6 (I think) they offer snacks and a "drink of the day" which was always yummy. We met several staff members and all of them were nice and helpful and happy to answer all of our silly tourist questions. I can't recommend this place enough. Location was great also. Less than a 5 min walk to the Main Street with all the shops. I'm ready to go back!

The staff or owner will bring a continuous flow of truly Italian top quality dishes. I was visiting the Alps from the U.S and had hiked in some of the most amazing and stunning areas. He's really helpful and breakfast, though typically Italian and not really to my taste, is very good. The place represents good value for money in an already expensive town. There are a few downsides though. First, it's difficult to get to with ski boots on. You have a long flight of stairs to contend with no matter which side you approach from. This would be fine if it were just boots you were wearing as the ski lift is very close, but if you're carrying skis it's a task you'll dread every evening! The ski lockers are excellent and very secure but also tricky to get to - yet more stairs! To mitigate this, they have a deal with the ski rental shop next to the ski lift. You'll get a 20% discount with them and they let you store the skis there overnight. If only we'd known this before booking our rental online at a place that's a bit of a walk away (but still on the way to the other lift in the village)! Overall, if you're coming to Cervinia despite my review of the overall ski resort, this place is really lovely and I'd recommend it!

At the time I visited, the servers didn't speak much English and, even though my German seemed to work elsewhere, it didn't work here. Had a problem getting my credit card(s) to work in their handheld machine and it took a while to pay. They finally had to take my card to the hotel reception to get it to work. There are much better places and, I'm sure, places not as good in Zermatt. But, the price was OK for Zermatt at CHF70 for three people. Fine for lunch and a coffee or beer or quick bite before getting on/off the train.....station is just across the street.

Everything from our rooms to the spa, upstairs bar, ski room, morning taxi service, front desk staff and breakfast was fantastic! Unfortunately, our 7 included dinners were horrendous! On a positive note...Dennis, our bartender, was an absolute rockstar! He took amazing care of our entire group and was a friendly, attentive, sociable, and an all-around amazing person! Thank you! You really made our stay! Dinner was consistently one of the worst dining experiences I have ever experienced. The salad bar was decent and the dining room was cute, but our waitress (Natalia?) was a useless idiot. The unpalatable meals took a ridiculous amount of time each night despite being a fixed menu. Our waitress could barely manage to clear plates, never mind serve us or take drink orders. Over half of our 45 person group ended up eating elsewhere due to the awful service and food quality. Dish after dish was sent back uneaten every night, but nothing was done to rectify the situation. I spoke with the front desk about alternative food choices and was at least able to set up a delicious fondue dinner for 10 of us for a 15 CHF upgrade per person one night. But every other meal was a major disappointment! We paid a lot of money for an upset stomach, awful service and hours of wasted time. I at least expected some sort of compensation from management after so many people complained and skipped dinners, but nothing was done. I'm extremely disappointed in the overall experience. Food is such a huge part of travel, and this hotel missed the mark. Eat literally anywhere else! Zermatt is full of fantastic eateries.
