This is a solid Swiss restaurant, no questions asked. The menu contains the typical Zürcher Geschnetzelte, Rahmschnitzel, Wienerschnitzel, etc., besides other good things of the "classical Swiss kitchen" (even though there is no classical Swiss kitchen at all).
The lunch menu presents some variation; now, venison may be served if you are in that type of food during fall.
I had a Bündner Gerstensuppe (barley soup), which was excellent. Also, the veal Cordon-Bleu was a must that evening. It was weirdly squared but just superb in taste. The vegetables, nothing to write home about.
But what really knocks my socks off every time I go to that place is the stunning view over the Birseck area, Basel city, in the far the Basel airport and Elsass. read more
