We stopped into Oude Stadthuys for lunch and had a great experience. The service was…read moreexcellent--very friendly and attentive. There is plenty of seating both inside, and outside (on the plaza/market side, as well as the church side). We opted for a high top table inside, by the bar.
The menu has some unique options. My husband ordered the Stadthuys Special, which is a bold combination of pork belly and shrimp scampi. He really enjoyed it; it's an interesting pairing that works well together. I had the Brie sandwich (honey, arugula, and seeds), which was a very generous serving of bread, so I ended up eating it open-faced to get the perfect ratio of toppings.
We also tried the Pomodori soup. We learned after the fact that "Pomodori" is Italian for tomato--which explains the flavor! It was a bit of a surprise since the description focused on the sour cream and spring onion, but it was delicious with a lot of depth of flavor.
The beer menu here is fantastic, with a great selection of both drafts and bottles. We enjoyed the list so much that we both ended up staying for a second round! Highly recommend this spot for a flavorful lunch and a great pour.
