A fantastic experience from start to finish. Exquisite food, service and attention to detail. I'll start with the fact that yes, it is expensive but this is Switzerland...everywhere is expensive. The difference is: Orsini is worth it!
Service was exceptional. Very unpretentious. Even if you want to start with a pitcher of tap water, there is no judgment. Friendly servers, very professional/knowledgeable and dressed to the nines.
We arrived at 7pm and the place is filling up. A good sign! We saw a mix of regulars and tourists like us. But mostly regulars it seemed which is nice. Everyone seemed very happy to be there.
As we enjoyed our tasty tap water (we had done a lot of walking so it hit the spot!), we were provided with some delicious bread with butter by the server who had a big selection to choose from (one piece each but I am sure you could ask for 2 if you wanted!) I opted for my favourite: olive bread. Never lets me down!
We ordered the large serving of the agnolotti to start. It was spectacular! We shared the plate and truly enjoyed it. Large portion was $29. Small portion was $22.
We then ordered the veal scallopini ($59) which came with spaghetti noodles and vegetables and the Osso bucco ($48) which came with a white Parmesan risotto.
Now this was cool: about 20 minutes before the food came, they had a small section of the table where they lit the underside so it stayed warm. When our food came, it was all in silver dishes (with covers) and they plated the food at the table. It was spectacular to watch these guys in action. They quickly put a beautiful plate together for each of us and then covered up the leftovers and kept them warm so that when we were finished our meal, they plated again (except this time we swapped so I got to try the other meal!). Amazing.
The veal scallopini was so tasty with the noodles. And everything else was superb. Just fantastic.
We were too stuffed for dessert. But they did bring a little plate of cookies for us.
Total bill with a glass of wine ($14) was $150 before tip. They said not to worry about a tip (most restaurant already include 8% service charge) but we could helps but tip on this exceptional service. They seemed very grateful.
