When a friend of mine saw that I was in Bordeaux on IG, she sent me a message saying that we needed to check out Restaurant Lecarreau as it was her favorite restaurant there. Score! I called right away and made reservations for that night. I also confirmed they had Air Conditioning since it was an unusual hot spell (they do). The restaurant itself is nice and bigger than what we had been to so far- also the bar area is also pretty large if you only want to stop in and get a drink. There really isn't any outdoor seating, but the restaurant opens its windows so you still get a nice view. The menu here is a mixture as there were a lot of Spanish inspired plates to go along with the expected French fare. The squid in particular was definitely Spanish inspired and had a nice kick to it. On the French side the Beef tartare was exceptional. Really some of the best I have had as it absolutely melted in your mouth. The staff here is very friendly and we were here for a pretty long dinner enjoying the wine, food, company, and definitely the AC. Bordeaux has an awesome selection of great food and Restaurant Lecarreau does not disappoint.

If you're looking for a casual place to have some delicious wine and catch up with friends, this restaurant is for you! Not overly priced or too loud, a great bar that you can sit on either side of (amazing if you want to have a conversation), and very friendly servers. Note that you must purchase food in order to have drinks here- which is not a problem since we got the cheese plate and it was amazing.

For entrees, the citrus watermelon tataki was amazing as was the flame burned mackerel. Les Plats: The roasted trout and peanut smoked guinea fowl were exceptionally delicious. The desserts were incredible - we had the madagascar dark chocolate ganache and the meringue dome with marjoram and white chocolate. Arcada was one of the best meals we had in France. Best of all, my friend is a very picky eater, and she loved it!

You definitely need a reservation as they did have to turn people away without one. The restaurant is a bit in an odd location on a somewhat empty street. Also this is weird, but the floor slopes downward and isn't flat which made me personally feel uncomfortable to be at an angle (I have motion sickness and this felt weird). I'm know not everyone is bothered by that but I would've liked to have known before choosing this place. Otherwise it's very nice and romantic inside. The price is excellent at 49 euros for three courses. The food was very good but I will say that it looked better than it tasted. We enjoyed it but we weren't convinced that it is the top restaurant in Bordeaux as listed on trip advisor. For the price it was good.
