    Eggs with chorizo
    Nikki P.

While in Bordeaux recently, I was chatting with the woman whose apartment I was renting on airbnb about restaurant recommendations. She recommended this place, adding that it was her favourite restaurant in Bordeaux, so of course we had to give it a try. We arrived and the restaurant had a very "50s American diner" theme inside. The menu, though, in no way matched the decor of the restaurant. The had a "scoop" menu, which was essentially a €16 fixed price menu, or you could order a la carte. Those dishes ranged from €18-26. I chose to go with the set menu. For my starter I had eggs and chorizo, and for my main I had steak. There was very little chorizo in my eggs, and for some reason the eggs tasted kind of like flavorless and watery. But I ate it anyway, I was hungry. The steak was cooked just as asked, but again was lacking flavour. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great. Although, looking back I did order steak off a €16 3-course menu. So I'm not sure what I was expecting. For dessert, they brought out mango stracciatella ice cream. No, just no. Those flavours should never be mixed together. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2, is because the dishes on the a la carte menu DID taste better. I tried a few bites of friends dinner while there. Overall, this restaurant seems like a bit of a hodge podge. The inside suggests 50s American burgers, while the menu makes an attempt at fine dining.

This place is so underrated! Every bit of it deserves a five star. Their veal with foie gras on top was one of the best veal dishes that I've ever had, and I've had a lot. For appetizer, the intestines salad was so tasty! The other dishes we ordered were very good too. Their dessert cakes all looked very simple, but very good. I wanna come back again to try other dishes!

Wonderful restaurant that you must go to. Don't let the decor fool you. I had the veal saltambocca and it was great. Goat cheese salad was wonderful as well. My guests had the white fish and it was cooked perfectly. We want to go back again soon!

For entrees, the citrus watermelon tataki was amazing as was the flame burned mackerel. Les Plats: The roasted trout and peanut smoked guinea fowl were exceptionally delicious. The desserts were incredible - we had the madagascar dark chocolate ganache and the meringue dome with marjoram and white chocolate. Arcada was one of the best meals we had in France. Best of all, my friend is a very picky eater, and she loved it!

You definitely need a reservation as they did have to turn people away without one. The restaurant is a bit in an odd location on a somewhat empty street. Also this is weird, but the floor slopes downward and isn't flat which made me personally feel uncomfortable to be at an angle (I have motion sickness and this felt weird). I'm know not everyone is bothered by that but I would've liked to have known before choosing this place. Otherwise it's very nice and romantic inside. The price is excellent at 49 euros for three courses. The food was very good but I will say that it looked better than it tasted. We enjoyed it but we weren't convinced that it is the top restaurant in Bordeaux as listed on trip advisor. For the price it was good.

Ok people picture this-…read more One cool evening on the streets of central Bordeaux, walking arm in arm with my better half, heading towards my birthday dinner all of a sudden I hear from behind me "Roz" i carry on walking "Roz" I still carry on walking "Roz" ok fine i turn around and there one of my closest friends and ex-flatmate (she moved to sunny Dubai) stood before me. After screaming and hugging in shock (we had not seen each other for years) we agreed to meet the following evening. She picked this place for our little reunion meal and it was perfect. This is one of the most popular seafood places in Bordeaux and seats fill up super quick. We took the tasting menu a combination of prawns, oysters and other shellfish. This was my first time trying Oysters and I loved them. For main I took Seabass and my friend took Salmon both served on a bed of rice and a side of basic green salad. Again fresh, amazing and a sensation for the taste buds. For dessert we shared the pear tart and again wow!!! The staff are very accommodating and friendly and are eager to take time out to explain the menu to you. The restaurant itself has a very rustic yet nautical feel to it. Needless to say we sat there for a good few hours i recall leaving with a semi empty restaurant behind, yet we were not disturbed while we chatted and caught up on our coincidence.

The seafood platter had offerings that aren't usually seen on ice the US . Snails , clams , tiny prawns in addition to oysters , lobsters . Good way to expand your raw seafood palate. We had boiled mussels . Each order is a large bucket so probably one is good enough to share between two . The price is reasonably less expensive than the same amount of seafood in Southern California restaurants.
