I love this little restaurant. The owner was the only one there, and he was an absolute gem. So patient and understanding, and unswervingly polite. His friendliness blew us away. When we sat down, he brought over the handwritten chalk menu and walked us through every single item. When we wanted wine, he gave us two choices and explained the different flavors and notes in each. We ended up needing to open a second bottle, and when he took the first sip to make sure it wasn't corked, he finished it with such gusto and relish. It's clear that he loves his wine!
We got the soup to share, and it came with little baby croutons and sliced Parmesan. Omg the cheese. Because the soup was piping hot, the cheese melted into this glorious glop that tasted heavenly. Sopped up every last drop with bread - much to the owner's delight!
For our mains, we got the burger and scallops. Burger was cooked perfectly, and truly a monster to eat. It seems to be their most popular item, so would recommend getting it. Toppings are standard, but the sheer monstrosity of it made it quite memorable. The scallops and pasta were exactly what I wanted. Medium rare with a delicious cream sauce - ugh perfection!! read more
