When I entered BP we were in search for a quick lunch but was pleasantly surprised to see the selection and display quality of seafood, spices, sweet jams and sauces and desserts. Everything was very nicely displayed behind large see-through glass displays and they had an excellent selection of both fresh and frozen. Also, they had an amazing selection of prepared seafood salads. In the back of the Poissonnerie is a lunch restaurant with a little menu of seafood based items. Giddy with excitement I ordered the Fish and chips trio $12.95 (shrimp, cod and scallops). It came in a very nice light batter and the chips were crisp and light. You could really taste the freshness of the seafood but I was a bit disappointed with the serving size. A little on the smaller side! My work colleague ordered the seafood soup and he was a bit disappointed of the serving size also. However the taste and quality was quite good! Now onto the seafood. I brought back some "famous" Matane shrimp, fresh snow crab (season just started last week), seafood salad and tuna tartar. I planned my pickup in the night time just before 7:00 PM closing. As I have been to the store's at closing time the staff is usually more interested in going home than providing customer service but this was an exception. The two different women helping me were extremely courteous and provided attentive polite service! I was impressed to say the least! They pack your seafood in styrofoam coolers with ice and I was planning on eating it 24 hrs later. When I opened the box it still had some ice! Wow! If I lived in Matane I'd come here weekly but alas I'm more than 600 KM away. Looking forward to my next visit.

I was a…read morelittle worried it would be a tourist trap with all the lobster kitsch, but it was so popular, that we decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar and had a nice conversation with the bartender. I ordered a Capitaine Homard draft: it was fantastic. Once seated, we ordered the "Captain's Platter-a Must!" which was a whole lobster, served with smoked salmon, mussels, langoustines, nordic shrimps and whelks. Served with bouillabaisse and fries. I don't know what happened, but it took over 45 minutes to get our food, while people around us, who ordered after us, had their whole lobsters etc served before we got served. I don't mind waiting for a good meal, but when the food came, the lobster was very dry and the whelks were sadly rubbery. The broth was not great. When you're paying $68 for a meal, you want it to be properly cooked. The fries, however, were good and the smoke salmon was excellent. We did try the cheesecake with raspberry coulis for dessert and it was delicious. We got spectacular views of the sunset during and after dinner. I really loved their placemats; they were really pretty. I should have tried to buy some before I left. I would maybe give them another try and order something else expensive, to see how it would turn out.

My jaw dropped when I walked in. It was so cool. It was overly done like a ship with lobster memorabilia everywhere. Everyone in the place was taking photos...they even have a swing inside! I had the lobster rolls and they were fresh and tasty. The lobster tasted like the sea and it was delicious. It's just a 15 minute detour off the highway from quebec to gaspe. But it is definetly worth the drive out. They also have a lovely campground near the water which was pretty nice as well. It's a tourist attraction and I honestly can say if you are in the area I would not miss it! Theres the submarine close by so stop here before and after that visit...you're welcome!

English: Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend coming here for lunch/dinner. The menu seems large and extensive, but the quality isn't great. We expected large portions from the pictures online, but somehow it didn't really live up to that. We've been here a few times for breakfast and have enjoyed their French toast and crepes, and it's always super funny to look at all the unique (and sometimes a bit odd) artwork, but the food was disappointing. Our waitress was very sweet and energetic, though. Here's what we tried: -Garlic Bread Gratinée: 5/10 - It isn't bad but it isn't great. I mean, it's just bread, garlic, and cheese, so it can't be gross. The bread wasn't toasted enough, though, and there wasn't enough garlic flavor to pull through the overwhelming layer of half-melted cheese. -Half Portion Seafood Cipaille: 6/10 - It looked better in pictures from years before. It was a pile of decent bechamel sauce with chunks of lobster, fish, shrimp, and scallops on top of a flavorless pastry. The pastry really was not good, but the fish itself was pretty abundant. The side salad and vegetables were average and simple. It also came with mashed potatoes which actually had a pretty decent taste to them! The garlic crouton, however, was a piece of barely toasted yet weirdly stale bread with a single, measly smear of garlic butter. -Fisherman's Burger: 2/10 - Was excited about the seaweed pesto as we had never tried this before but it was average. It tasted just of seaweed. The burger had big chunks of lobster but it was cold so it felt like it had been preboiled and just grabbed out of the fridge. The temperature contrast with the warm bun was not appealing.

The food is Michelin quality and we tried salicorne (which taste like al dente pea vine) and tête de violon (fiddlehead is the English name and it tastes similar to asparagus) . I tried to use Google Translate to understand the menu but the friendly waitress was more than happy to explain it to me in English. Another bonus - it's a family friendly restaurant and although they don't have a kids menu (let's be honest, they are usually bad anyway). They offer half portion for the kids which works out better anyway!

They were very accommodating and let us sit at the bar on a very crowded Friday evening. You could watch the chef and two sous chefs prepare all the meals. They had a very interesting menu although we were tired and it was late and we just got a hamburger and they very graciously made up a green salad for my wife. The hamburger was one of the best I've ever had. It had bacon and onion rings on it with a wonderful sauce and came with a salad and, of course, french fries. My wife had a great green salad. At the bar you can watch them prepare all the meals. If you're American and a bit squeamish you may not like the fact that they seem to mix all the ingredients without gloves are washing their hands. You had the sense that they were very proud of the food they were serving. We were staying in a hotel around the corner which was a bit creepy and this was a wonderful respite. There seem to be a lot of restaurants in this area but not a lot with great reviews. This is definitely worth stopping in for a great meal.
