Located on the beach, in front of the sea, the scenery is beautiful mostly at night time. What is it ? La Ola is a restaurant on the beach. You can go there in the morning for breakfast. They have a great selection of drinks, but you should not crave for croissants or pastries, they don't have any. How are the people ? People are nice. Their English is not that good but you can make yourself understood anyway. I do not have any acquaintances there yet, I will tell you more about the place in a few days. What about the price ? To be totally honest, I think the price is not up to the quality of the food. It's only beach food ! Anything else to add ? If you want to listen to some cool live music and dance, La Ola is the place to go. If you want to have a drink or two with friends, you can really have a good time there. But I'd advise you not to have food there, that's way too expensive ! "After all, i'd do with a drink" says my best friend. The hosts were welcoming and helpful explaining the daily specials in their best if limited English and provided English menus. The restaurant itself is quite striking inside with a high stone arch ceiling and well executed decor. The food leans heavily to seafoods of course. It was high quality and substantial portions. I felt bad about not being able to finish my swordfish and my in laws struggled to finish their plates. The kids loved their selections as well as they chocolate cake. The wine list was very good with quite a few local varieties. All in all this place felt a step above the other spots in the tourist ghetto along the waterfront and I would be happy to go back.

The food was excellent: fresh seafood and cooked well. There was an excellent variety and everything we had was delicious. There was also a good wine list with a range of bottles, 2/3 bottles and wine by the glass. We'd highly recommend La Marine.

I must say that "Halles & Manger" has been the highlight of my 2 last trip (4 months in total). It's located inside the Halles (fresh veggies/meat/fish market) of Setes. This place features only a small selection of starters and mains made with locally sourced, farm fresh produces, with an emphasis on seafood and fishes. They also have an amazing local wine selection at very reasonable prices. Everything was perfect from the vibe, the staff, the food, the attention the setting and the presentation of all dishes. Dishes are perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and beautifully set. You will eat inside the 'halles', by other shops and restaurants. Even the coffee is delicious and comes with small, sweet hone made "sides" that tasted like what grandparents would have baked. The freshness and taste of the food is unbeatable. We tried Jean Marie on the basis of 4 reviews. I can't say how it compares to chez Francois, the local fav. But Jean Marie was great. The oysters were fabulous. The lobster ravioli perfect. The grilled giant shrimp great (though the green and brown sauce too sweet and best left on the side where they were placed. The grilled cuttlefish and mussels worth the wait. The menu is fairly short but clearly that's because the chef is focusing on freshness and taste!
