We had a small Thanksgiving road trip to Portneuf this weekend. The weather was great and the bright colors of the autumnal foliage were splendid. We stopped by Saint-Raymond for lunch, at Restaurant-Bar La Croquée.
It's a casual spot, mainly enjoyed by locals. The dining room was mostly empty when we arrived around 13h, but plenty of natural light made it welcoming. Our waitress was very pleasant, and conversed with us in the same way a friend would. The menu offered a fairly narrow selection of fast foods - pizza, spaghetti, poutine, chicken wings - along with pricier options (e.g. angus beef). There were also rather perplexing "Chinese" dishes at the end of the menu, but the photos were not very encouraging. My parents and I ordered a 14'' smoked meat pizza to share, and my brother ordered a plate of La Croquée pizza and chicken wings.
The portions were generous, especially for the smoked meat. The pizza was good and had a lot of cheese (something I always appreciate). However, the tomato sauce was too salty and left all of us gasping for water the whole afternoon. The chicken wings tasted a bit like commercial, frozen ones. The total came up to ~40$, which is not bad. We left satisfied.
A nice place to stop by, not pretentious or too cheap. read more
