The eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast buttered and fluffy, the hashbrowns were cooked well and seasoned well which is such a bonus as I find sometimes hashbrowns are lacking a lot. The side yogurt was surprisingly the highlight for me! It came with maple syrup, fruit and granola. I absolutely devoured it! The service was great here too, and they came by with drip coffee top up! They also have an attached ice cream stand, which has the usual variety of soft and hard ice cream. Your options are pretty limited if you happen to find yourself in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier (Subway and Tim Hortons...and not too much else), so this place is definitely a decent choice.

Poutine is a dish consisting of french fries covered with cheese curds (squeaky cheese as we call it) and brown gravy. It's a comfort food for my husband. On this trip we tried poutine in 3 places. McDonalds, Ashton's (the most famous) and this privately owned roadside stop. Casse-croute marcotte was the best by far. The cheese was fresh the gravy yummy and the fries fresh cut. Worth a stop and the caloric indulgence. The line up reaches down the steps, but don't be put off, the service is quick and you won't wait long.

Happily, the hostess got the ok to seat us (party of 2) and we went on the patio. Unfortunately, the houseflies on the patio were too much for us and we had to go inside after about 20 minutes. But the food was very good. We shared a calamari appetizer and split a burger, and both were quite good. The ownership also runs a farm that raises excellent cattle, whose meat is served in all the beef dishes on the menu, so we thought the burger was an appropriate choice. We were right. As someone else noted, La Ferme also serves locally-brewed beer (Les Grandes Bois, in nearby St. Casimir), but it also sources other ingredients from local farms such as Terra Sativa in St. Alban. The service was attentive but not suffocating and the kitchen did a good job with the dishes we enjoyed. We'd gladly make a return visit!

It was a quiet September Wednesday night and there were only a few other parties in the restaurant. I'll just say that the ambience, the service, the food and the value were all really great. If you're in the area -- especially if you're staying at Entourage sur-le-lac! -- I highly recommend you choose to dine at Le Batifol over the restaurant at the resort. Everything here is better and a much better value. I'm leaving a star off not having anyone bi-lingual at the restaurant and not having an english language menu. I speak SOME French, but it would've made things a bit easier.
