I managed to start with their french onion soup which hit the spot in the cold weather , but it could have simply be my meal for the night!!! I have had really good experience here with their food quality, and great service. The sitting room is also unique and charming. See my pix. The price is higher than average but a few more francs are worth the quality. I have been to at least 10-12 other restaurants in Neuchatel over the past 3-4 years. Le Cardinal is on the top of all of them that I've tried!

We loved eating on the sidewalk, but had we been inside, it would've been equally great. We chose this place because we wanted to make sure we had fondue on our first evening in Switzerland. To that respect, we found it to be better than average, but nothing that blew your socks off. We also got the Neuchâtel Sausage and Osso Buco, both of which were pretty darn good. We would definitely get them again. The service was great. Our waiter was polite and the food arrived in a timely manner expected for a nice restaurant. Other than the prices being high, which is to be expected in Switzerland, we thought it was an overall great experience. I'd be interested in checking out other restaurants in the city, but if the opportunity came up, I would definitely return.

Both their sweet and savory crepes are worth a try. I love the ham, cheese, and egg crepe as a meal. It's light and just a lovely, fresh combination of ingredients. I've also tried several of their dessert crepes -- YUM. I recommend trying one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You won't regret it!
