And once we went inside, we had a virtual army of waiters tending to us. My partner had the prawn risotto and I had the Sea Bass Mediterranean style, which the server asks the guest whether it should be served whole or filleted. I am not a fan of cooked fish heads so I asked for a filleted bass from the kitchen... yeah I'm chicken.... We accompanied the meal with a very good Valais wine, just to ensure we were paying homage to the local culture. The entire meal was very, very good, and the service was excellent. It isn't cheap, but worth it. There is also a large bar area where a couple of dozen people were seated and having a grand old time. The only sad occurrence was not the restaurant's fault but if any, it enhanced my liking for the place. An apparently nuveau rich Russian family with what was obviously an extremely low level of sophistication, became wildly upset over a half a percent mistake in the conversion between Euros and Swiss Francs and they started a one-man scandal, yelling and screaming at the waiter in the middle of the restaurant. The table next to them, obviously a French group, were so aghast that they covered their faces in disgust. But the waiter maintained his composure and the manager quickly dissuaded the crisis. From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly warm, attentive, and perfectly accommodating in every possible way. What truly set him apart was how much he genuinely cared about making our experience special. He helped us plan parts of our trip, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel completely taken care of throughout our stay. One moment we will never forget was when he arranged for the pianist to play a special song for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture that it honestly brought tears to our eyes. Experiences like that are rare, and Moritz created a memory we will carry with us forever. Victoria-Jungfrau is lucky to have someone like him representing the hotel. It started out on a bad note: his first interaction was AGGRESSIVELY pushing glasses of champagne (from the champagne house of the owner-he wouldn't take no for an answer! Until we insisted. We ordered a bottle of Chablis and his unfamiliarity with the massive wine list (not surprising given his one-month tenure) caused him to spend around 5 minutes lurking over my shoulder copying down the description-clearly in need of more training. We were traveling with friends so we like to get several things and share them around the table. He belittled our choice to share the popcorn shrimp to start (falsely) indicating that it was a tiny cup. The slightly spicy shrimp (around 10 pieces) was just what we wanted. We also ordered a large salad and three mains explaining we wished to course things out-first the shrimp, then the salad, then the mains-fairly rudimentary ask especially at this caliber of restaurant. The two glasses of champagne we ordered came right away but were very skimp pours. The shrimp also came soon. The wine took 20 minutes more! Then another 30 minutes elapsed and we insisted he go find and bring the salad-which he did-followed quickly by the mains. As for the food-large salad with grilled peaches was nice as was the "Swiss (perch) and chips". The grilled perch and ravioli were fine but not outstanding. Bottom line I had high hopes for this place given the reputation of the hotel-very very disappointing-easily one of the worst serving experiences in our years of global travel.

You will spend some money staying here, but well worth it. I went to climb to the top of schlithorn and they had some spare hiking poles for us. They had a laundry deal for you and a few other amenities for you. Even better, then water is spring fed from the mountain. You really couldn't ask for anything better.
