We arrived a bit early before we could check in and thought we'd grab some lunch while we wait. Furthermore, we didn't have breakfast and drove down from Zurich. I wanted a simple burger, and that's not what I got... you be the judge based on the photo. Impressive and large, great presentation, and not bad. But 34 dollars good? Not even close. It's the hotel restaurant syndrome where everything is a bit overpriced... My daughter had the same thing and we shared some fries. No sauce at all for the fries, and we were never checked on to see if we needed anything. The service was really poor! You'd think for a 34 dollar burger they'd at least provide good service, but no such luck. Unless you have money falling out of your behind, and feel like rubbing elbows with others who share the same affliction, I'd avoid this place. We'll see how the hotel part fairs compared to the restaurant side of the house. Prost!

I ordered the spaghetti aargauerhof, thinking this has got to be some kind of signature dish if the restaurant name is the name of the dish! Although presentation was nice, and I appreciated the garish of fresh sprouts, the pasta was flavorless, and the veal was overcooked. Also, the pasta seemed to have a puddle of butter underneath. Spaghetti Aargauerhof, plus a small bottle of water put me back 25 CHF! Wow, if it were me paying, I would have grabbed a kebab at a near by take away shop and called it good. Thank goodness for work expensed meals :)

Aargauerhof is as consistently satisfying as the train system... and it's also Swiss... cuisine,…read morethat is. The food is both traditional and contemporary Swiss. Example: their known for their outstanding cordon bleu but I recently had a daily special of very well prepared cevapcici with bärlauch cream soup as a starter. The soup, however, tasted suspiciously similar to asparagus cream soup, especially since it happens to be 'Asparagus Week.' Every week, in fact, is a theme week with a special menu consisting of 5 or 6 creative specialties based on that theme. I saw burger week once but didn't get the opportunity to stop in. The first item on this week's theme menu was asparagus veloute with poached veal sweetbreads. It sounds pretentious, but as an appetizer, it's still only a measly CHF 9.90. And Aargauerhof is anything but pretentious. In fact, it is the self-proclaimed "In-Beiz." The regular menu is exhaustive, packed with almost the entire portfolio of classics: züri g'schnätzlets, beer-battered lake perch, fleischkäse with fried egg on top, hörnli mit gehacktem and apple sauce, and on and on. I especially appreciate the Swiss table condiments that are on every table, including Aromat and Maggi as well as a fresh pepper grinder! Never had a bad meal either. I do find the fact that they decorate every single plate with sprouts and a small Asian chili sort of odd since, as you can imagine, it doesn't always match very well... I mean, sprouts and a red Thai chili on a bowl of Hörnli mit gehacktem is sort of thoughtless. The standard half of a cherry tomato would also be as thoughtless, but would actually suit better in this case. Minor observation, however. The service is never bad but it's not award-winning either. The kitchen is positively swift though. The place looks very typical inside - lots of wood... and large windows on Langstrasse. Not super cozy or a place for romance but it's comfortable and warm. Prices are reasonable as well, since rent is probably a little more manageable in this area. Aargauerhof is definitely a place to think of for a good quality Swiss meal, be it lunch or dinner. In summer there is even plentiful seating on the sidewalk. The perfect place to watch the colorful passersby.

Charming restaurant with people dining before the Easter holidays, a Lindt chocolate bunny was part of the place setting. You could hear the sound of hammering coming from the kitchen as the crew pounded the meat flat for cooking. And it did not disappoint, most amazing Schnitzel. Be sure to visit next time you're in Zurich.
